    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Geewhiz ~  I too am an emotional eater, but when I got on the scale yesterday, my emotion was YAHOOOOO!  I had a good evening and instead of plopping down in front of the TV, which zones me out and then I find myself munching, I started a new book and got caught up in the plot.  When the urge to snack hit me (and it usually does `cause I've been practicing that behavior for such a long, long time), I made myself a cup of pomegranate/raspberry tea and enjoyed that!  It worked.

I cleaned out the pantry with all the "trigger" foods (cookies, chips, crackers) and made some veggie snacks that are handy in the frig.  Got some non-fat yogurt and rice cakes and now I stocked with good, healthy snacks.....

Best wishes on the surgery and I know you will be good-to-go when you're done recovering.....have a grand day, dear friend....always, Carol in Hawaii

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

It looks like everyone on this thread is determined to get into new bathing suits by this summer.  With the attitudes everyone has so far, I think we'll all make it.  Carol is 4 lbs closer to that sexy new suit!

Sue, I want to wish you well with your surgery.  Please let us know how things go.  You will be in my thoughts.

Sorry this is such a short post.  I am worn out from my physical therapy today, and when my body gets tired my brain seems to follow.  Keep up the great attitude girls.

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Hi Carol,  Those trigger foods!!  I have a husband who can eat whatever he wants and still remain thin.  I'm pretty good at not buying them - he on the other hand is not good.  I have gotten him hooked on Skinny Cow ice cream cones though.

Hi Liz,  Thank you so much for your kind words.  I just want it over with,  This seems like an incredibly long week.  I'm about to be somewhat of a Carolina girl.  We are buying property in NC in May.  Don't know if we'll ever move there - it's for investment purposes.  I could be quite comfortable there I think.

Have a great rest of the day.

    Always,  Sue in CT

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Hello Carol, It's so nice to see someone else from Hawaii on the boards :o) When I first started the program I couldn't find anyone from here. I know people are buying the product, because sometimes the stores are out of stock! ````````````````I've lived on Oahu since 1989, when I moved from Anchorage. I have 3 children- 24 y/o boy, 21 y/o girl, and 10 y/o boy. I'm 42 and work as a RN. My daughter lived in Hilo for 2 years, and moved back here about a year ago. I loved to visit her there- the people are wonderful, and I love the pace there.``````````````I've been on Alli since 2/3, and I love this program. My eating style has totally changed. At first the fear of TE's kept me from straying. Now I feel like I've formed good habits, and rarely crave the foods I used to eat daily. Using the nutrition log has been so helpful. I don't follow the alli meals, but instead "define" my own foods. My family enjoys the dinners I make, and I feel good about making healthy choices for the family. `````````````````Anyway, welcome to the alli family. The support here is great. Let's be swimsuit ready by summer, and have the energy to enjoy the great place we live in! Aloha, Adina

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Howzit e Adina.  So happy to know that support is an island away!  I'm in my second week and each days gets a little easier.  I try to have a mid-morning snack and something in the late afternoon.  Been having fruit or yogurt in the AM, veggie sticks in the PM.  Seems to keep me from rushing home from work and eating EVERYTHING in sight!  After dinner, I have cup of herbal tea and call it a day.  So far, so good.

Like you, life here is beyond my wildest dreams and even though we came here to slow our lives down, it seems I'm busier than ever, but good busy.

A *** hou sistah (and all you other sistahs too!).....always,  Carol in HI

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

    Hello Girls:

I had physical therapy for 3 hours this morning which worn me out.  Then, when I got home, it was such a beautiful day, almost 70 degrees, that I decided to walk around outside for 30 minutes.  Now, I am almost exhausted.  But it felt so good to be outside in the warm sunshine with a gentle breeze blowing across my face.  I will pass out when I hit the bed tonight, but I think it was worth it.

Sue, what part of NC did are you purchasing property?  There are a lot of retirees in NC now, especially near the beaches and the mountains.  The numbers grow each year.

Well, gals, I have to put together some dinner if I can find the energy.  Have a nice evening.

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Hi girls,  It sounds like everyone is having a great Alli day.  Liz,  I've read some of your other posts and you are so upbeat and positive - an inspiration to everyone.  The name of the town in NC is Lincolnton.  I think it's quite rural but we'll find out over Memorial Day weekend.  We are going down to look at it then. Some friends of ours bought this huge parcel of land and they have sub-divided into several lots. The lot we are interested in is on a pond. I'm looking forward to it.  CT is a tough place to live - the highest cost of living in the country.  I saw a gas station today that was charging $3.29 a gallon!  Carol is sounds like you have settled into the Alli plan very well!  I hope the scale continues to go down for you again this week.  Well gotta finish up my evening chores.  We have a cleaning lady who comes every other Friday so I  have to go around and pick up all the big chunks.  I hope everyone has a nice evening.  Talk to you tomorrow.  Sue in CT

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

We pay $3.53/gallon for gas here on the Big Island and it looks like it could go up farther over the summer.  I really am happy to live off-the-grid (yes, I use alternative energy [solar, wind, generator and catchment]), and here it is common.  My home is just like yours (computers, TV, stereo, electric piano and guitars/amps, etc.).  We love living where we can use renewable, sustainable energy sources.

I am working on getting my garden in shape (vegetables and fruit trees) and working in the yard to add to the landscaping.  It rained last night and this morning, it's beautiful.  Will get some outside work done over the weekend.....lots of bending and twisting that helps the waistline!

I weigh-in again on Monday and hope to see the number drop from last week.

To all my new friends,  have a grand weekend....check back in on Monday....aloha, Carol in HI

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Been a busy week (work-wise) and had some late night hours.  Took Greek salad to work for my dinner break and a cup of non-fat vanilla yogurt, added 1 Alli capsule and BAM!  delicious.

Seems to be working....what's happenin' with my Paradise pals?

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

I've been pretty busy with work for the past week and a little withdrawn with pre-surgery jitters.  Had the successful gall bladder removal yesterday.  Kind of sore today but not taking the narcotics just the "A" pain reliever.  How was your second weigh-in Carol?  Would love to hear how you're doing.  I've been up since 4:30 this am so I think i'm going to take a little nap now.  Hope to hear from,  Sue in Ct

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

    Hi Sue:

I'm glad you posted because I've been wondering how you were doing.  I think sometimes the thought of having surgery is worse than the surgery itself.  It sounds like you're doing fine.  If the pain gets worse don't hesitate to take the strong stuff. That's what it's for.  Wow!  You're up and on the computer already!  You're a strong, determined gal.  I hope someone is pampering you for the next few days.  Take it easy and get plenty of rest.  Don't over do it.  Take it slow and easy or it will catch up with you.

I had a bummer day yesterday.  I found out my old scale was way off and I was actually about ten lbs heavier than I thought I was when I started with Alli!  Talk about major disappointment!  Well, I just have a little more weight to take off than I thought I had.   I'm not gonna let it throw me.  I hope you continue to get better.  Keep us updated on your progress.  I imagine you will be out of work for awhile.  Enjoy it as much as you can, although I know that is hard to do when you're in pain.

    Liz

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Carol, I just wanted to see how you're doing. Things are going ok for me- slow and steady losses. I've been working a lot of hours lately, and it's hard to get my walking in when I'm at work 13 hours every night. I'm pretty active at work. Whether it be lifting patients, or walking all over the large floor I work on, I only sit to do my charting. Anyway, good for you starting your garden, what are you growing? I find garden work relaxing. Digging in the dirt is satisfying isn't it? ``````````````````Well, I just wanted to stay in touch with you. Keep up your good work. Adina :o)

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

First of all -- RIGHT ON SUE!  So glad to hear you are through the surgery and on the mend.  With the resiliency you show through your emails, I know your recovery will be remarkable.  Pain management is crucial to that and as long as you are keeping in touch with your inner spirit, you will know what and when.  And it's call recovery.....a little bit each day until you are ready to make the next step (a lot like Alli program, step by step, each day gets better and better....a process and it may take time to see the results, but they are REAL).

NEXT TO LIZ -- I broke down and purchased a good scale just because I always found it curious that when I weighed in at my doctor's, I was always heavier than I weighed in at home.  Real numbers also tell real results.....glad to hear you got good equipment to aid your food plan.  Kinda like good food in, good results at weigh-in!  It's all good and having honest chats with each other is part of the good plan-good results process...you always cheer me on!

Garden status is lettuce and tomatoes with some herbs.  Will get to pineapples soon as they kinda take a bit of an area to grow.  We will put in banana and already have papaya.  Some of the squash and cucumbers will go in later with snow peas and bush beans to be added in mid-April......let it grow, let it grow, let it grow.  Like you, I find great peace in tilling the earth.  I am a child of the sixties and that should tell you way more about me!

To all my sister, so far I'm 6 lbs. down and weigh tomorrow AM....results to be reported out on the morrow.......always,  Carol in HI

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

    Aloha Carol

Congrats on the 6 lbs lost. I am on Oahu and have been taking Alli since 3/1/08 and official I have lost 8lbs unofficial 9lbs because I have a bad habit of weighing everyday. I tried moving the scale to another room but because I know where I moved it I would go there to weigh so I ended up placing it back in the original spot.

It's great to see someone else from Hawaii on this post so I had to say Aloha,

    Mahalo,

    Re: Post-It from Paradise

Aloha e Janice !  I haven't seen much chatting on this for a while (and I was sick for a week) so glad to hear we are all alive and making progress.  I had a bout with respiratory problems and now am back in the swing.  I have a family trip planned in early May, so want to keep on track for that.....good health and keep up your excellent progress....always, Carol in HI
