    Pretzels?

    Hi,

Im new to these boards. I have recently lost 12 lbs without being on alli, and another 5 when I decide to buy alli a few weeks ago. I am so excited to see my results every week! But, why I am writing is because I am looking for good snack foods. While Im at work I cant resist the bag of Snyders pretzels. I generally eat it a few hours after or before my meal for that evening which is usually a lean cuisine. (I love them by the way, its like all I eat.) But is that a good choice? I know its better than the bag of donuts I use to get, but in the bag its like 38total grams of carbs. On the other hand it is only I think 1.5 grams of fat and a total of 180 calories. So in your opinion am I making the best choice with getting the pretzels?

i love pretzels too [and lean cusines its all i eat!] and i've heard they are really good for you when your trying to eat healthy, i but the ones that aren't loaded with salt..you should buy the 100 calories packs of pretzels..it helps you limit your portions!

    Re: Pretzels?

I enjoy pretzels also but I hate the salt which causes fluid retention.  I purchase Snyders No Salt.  I place 20 pretzels in a zip-lock snack baggie and make up the entire bag into serving sizes.  Otherwise, it's easy to eat and eat.  I need something to snack on when driving home from work.  It helps keep me awake and I'm less likely to grab the wrong food as soon as I get in the door.  I also found fat free/salt free microwave popcorn.  I pop a bag just before leaving work and have it and a diet Root Beer on my drive home.  I'm still looking for no fat whole wheat crackers.

Good luck and keep it up.

    Re: Pretzels?

Like the other postings say, be careful about the sodium.  It will cause fluid retention and limit your weight loss.  One person said she uses ziploc bags.  I do that too, and the snack size are perfect for portion control on the snack.  I can slip carrot sticks, celery sticks, etc. in the snack bags and they are just right for my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks.  Another person also suggested the 100-calorie packs for snacking.  I use them too and it helps curb off cravings.  Just decadent enough to help satisfy those chocolate or sweet - salty cravings.

    Good luck!

    Re: Pretzels?

I too am a pretzel fan.  Check this out... UTZ sourdough pretzels is perfect.  You can eat one fist sized pretzel for 90 calories and NO FAT!  I just got a bag tonight.  I think you can find it marked "The Pounder"  with a green flag that says Fat free.  Good luck.
