    Turkey Bacon

I recently got a book called "Eat this Not that" it compares foods and tells you which is the better of the two to eat.  A lot of the things in this book you wouldnt believe!  And for all you turkey bacon lovers out there...I just wanted to share (I'm by no means telling you not to eat turkey bacon, just telling you what I read)

Oscar Mayer "America's Favorite Bacon" (thats the regular bacon) for two slices has: 70 calories, 6g of fat, and 290mg sodium
Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon, for two slices has: 70 calories, 6g fat, and 380mg sodium

apparently Oscar Mayer's Turkey Bacon is infused with more sodium than regular bacon

I was wondering if this is true for other brands as well, I havent been to the store since I read this to compare...should be interesting to find out.

    Re: Turkey Bacon

I eat regular pork bacon, but I do the center cut with lower fat. Two slices has 50 calories and 3.5 g of fat. I also do not eat ground turkey. I buy the leanest ground beef and it generally have to spary a little Pam on the grill pan so it won't stick. I don't beleive turkey is better than pork or beef, but it is the choice of the the pork and beef. You have to buy lean cuts of any type of meat. That's just my two cents! :)

Try Jennie-O Extra Lean Turkey Bacon, for two slices: 40 calories, 1g fat, 0g carbs, 280mg sodium, and best of all 6g protein

Granted, it doesn't taste as good as "real" bacon, but not too bad.  Bon appetit!
