    Week 1 complete

After 1 week on Alli I definitely noticed a change in my face and stomach. Today was my first weigh in and I lost 5 pounds, which was relatively easy since I eliminate cake & donuts. I went out to eat 3 days ago and after I ordered the rueben sandwich & fries I knew it was going to cost me. The treatment effects weren't as bad as I thought but they were still there. If nothing else, Alli has made me look at food differently to avoid fat. I am not a fast food kind of person but I eat out a lot (lunch usually). When I do I try to make the healthier choice and go more vegetarian. Admittedly I do not keep a food journal but am aware of every bite I take and the foods I buy. So 5 pounds down and 15 to go. I have actually increased my physical activity as well. So let's see what next week brings since I am heading to Puerto Rico on vacation..... That will be the test... Vacations & Alli

    Just Starting!

Ok...I am a little nervous about the potential "treatment" effects. I am trying to lose about 15+ pounds. So this message area is going to be a big support.....I hope.

    Thanks

    Re: Week 1 complete

    Hi Edward,

Welcome to alli and great work in your first week.  Although you experienced some TE because of overdoing it in the fat department, it sounds like you've worked out a system that helps you to avoid doing this again.

Eating a low-fat diet that consists of 15 grams of fat per meal on average can lower the chance of experiencing these treatment effects. Additionally, the alli program can help you reduce the likelihood of having treatment effects - and many people tested have said that alli keeps them from over-consuming on fat.  Since you eat out a lot, being extra careful is going to be key for you. You might also want to check out all of the recipe ideas and meal ideas listed on this site to help guide you when cooking for yourself.

Increasing your physical activity is critical.  You want to aim for a combination of strength training (twice per week for total body) and cardio (30-60 minutes, at least 3 sessions per week). Post any questions you might have about training to the fitness board and I'd be glad to help.

If you stick with your plan, you should continue to see results - in time for your vacation.

    Keep up the good work.

    Good Luck,

    Paul

    Re: Day 2 complete

I know I am a "virgin" when it comes to the program.....just to let anyone else know, I was "freaked" out about the potential TE's.

For me I have not been an fast food kinda guy. So ...at this time, so far so good. I just want to see if this little "blue" (Matrix) works.

I am more aware that I done slurp....but I will tell you, that if this works, I will be the poster child

    Re: Day 2 complete

Hah, I like the Matrix reference! As for apprehension about TE's, one route to consider is just to go through and experience one episode. It's a drag, but not the end of the world. It's rather akin to the military strategy of getting to know one's enemy. Good luck, Marshall

    Re: Day 2 complete

    Hi RK,

Welcome to alli.  I hope you are doing well and not enduring any TEs.

Are you also engaging in a structured exercise regime and following your diet?  The combination of the pills, diet and exercise should speed along your weight loss and ensure that it will continue into the long-term.  Let me know if you have any questions about the fitness portion.

    Keep it up.

    Good Luck,

    Paul

    Middle of Week 2

I was very nervous about the TEs, but I watched what I ate and the journal helps, although I usually wrote in them at night to see where I was with calories and fat.

I weighed 184.5 and sometimes up to 186.5.  If I could see 175, I'd be very happy.  Then of course to 170.

On the day ending week one, I lost 2 pounds.  Strange was that the next day, it showed I was down 4 pounds.  Three days later, still down 4 pounds.  I know, you should only weigh in once a week, but I like getting a base line and I weigh in every morning at the same time.

I've never had the TEs, but if alli has done anything, it has made me watch what I eat.  Sometimes I do go over the calories a bit, but usually on the weekends when friends are over.  Switched from beer (99 calories) to vodka to save some calories.

All in all, still going at it and hope to see that 179, 178, etc. LOL
