    annoyed.

    heres the story,

i volunteer every friday with a girl name jennie* (i changed her name) in an office of a clinic that provideds health care for thoes who cannot afford insurance. well on this friday there was a new lady beth* (who is about 65, and i also changed her name) well she introduced her self to jennie, and then I intoduced myself. then to help her remember our names she said " skinny jennie, and kelley"

okay, clearly i wouldn't be on alli, or posting on the message board if i thought i was skinny but was it really necessary to say that? i really wanted to just say, yes, skinny jennie and fat kelley, what a great way to remember our names!

welp just venting my frustration... thanks for listening!

    Re: annoyed.

Wow..that was insensitive! Some people can get embarresed in "new" situations where THEY feel vulnerable...maybe that happened to her. OR...maybe she is just one of those people that had no 'filter' on their mouth! She also could be getting a touch of dementia (it can come on at that age).

Try to forgive her and forget it Kelley. Everything that happens to us is to teach us something about ourselves. All you need to remember is you ARE doing better now taking care of yourself and your health!

Who knows...she might end up being a good friend and ally (no pun intended!) Even IF this other girl IS skinny...it doesn't mean she's healthy AND it doesn't make her better/worse than you! AND it doesn't mean you are fat either!!

Let it go girl...hope it helped to get it out...I can steam up about remarks myself, so I get it!

p.s. Almost 2 yrs back, I ran into a woman I use to model with when I was in my 30's. We chated a bit, and then she said to me....are you doing plus size modeling now? For gosh sakes, I was a size 14...but she said it like I contracted a disease and she was better than me! Can I tell you how long I stewed about that?! When I think back on it though, the last time she had seen me, I was a size 6 (15yrs ago!)...sometimes it hurts when someone puts a mirror up for you to see yourself...but that was one remark that made me work out harder!

    Re: annoyed.

thank you for your post carol joy :)

the reason i posted this was to get it off my chest. i really didn't bother me when she said it, i was just kind of shocked that she did. i don't care if anyone thinks i am fat because well according to my bmi, i am. but i am doing somthing about it and for that i can be happy :)

thank you for always taking time out and posting to everyones threads!

    Re: annoyed.

    Kelly,

Be thankful that she didn't say skinny jinny and smelly kelly.

One of my goals on alli is to have my skinny friends wanting to eat what I'm eathing.  This is happening.  I love it when I pull out my lunch and my friends look at my meal and tell me that looks good.
