    Re: total disappointment

    Hi Thornyyrose,

Not everyone has to be good at math. I am here to help so there is no need for you to try to figure this out on your own. I did your calorie calculation based on you being 201 lbs, 5'3, 42 years old, and female. Your maintenance calories are about 2100 calories if you are lightly active. This means that you can cut back to 1600 calories and 53 grams of fat per day. You can't change your calorie goals on here so you can just reach the 1600. This is the best level to begin with. If you do not lose after two weeks let me know and I will make adjustments.

    Does this make sense now?

    Re: total disappointment

thornyrose - I'm started on the 1800 / 60 fat gram program (started at 285 lbs).  Try breaking your fat grams down like I did per day - that may help you out.

    Breakfast - 14/15 fat grams
    Lunch - 18/19 fat grams
    Dinner - 21/22 fat grams
6 fat grams divided into 2 snacks per day

I learned to follow my calories / fat grams but broke them up as I deemed necessary for the day.  The Alli 19 grams per meal is a "suggestion" - I just kept within the daily allowable and it worked for me.

I've been at a standstill the last few weeks - so I've changed my calorie/fat gram program to try to get my weight loss going again :)

    Hope this helps you !!

    Re: total disappointment

Don't worry. You aren't alone. I think I might be stuck on stupid as well. I can't seem to figure any of this out. I have been adding everything that I have eaten.  I drink so much water that sometimes I feel like I am floating and I cut out everything. I don't eat 1800/cals per day I eat more like 1300-1500/cals a day. I also have finished the 150 starter pack and started at 219 and only lost 9 pounds. I work out at the gym 5 out of 7 nights a week for atleast an hour each time and thats not including going for walks and thats usually atleast a mile or two. I just don't understand how I didn't lose more. It was like huh? How can I put all this weight on which seemed overnight and yet I am busting my behind to lose it and its not going anywhere. I will say that I went from a 24 to a 16 and only lost 9 pounds so somethings not right here.... I just don't understand it. What happens when you come off the pills? Does it all come back to you?

    Re: total disappointment

well with your workout you did tone...so the going from a 24 to a 16 is GREAT!!  you lost inches over pounds...i think even with that would be a plus for me....i am and have been in a 18 for some time now..a lil looser perhaps but still cant quite make the 16s it seems....soo good for you on that part.. :)

i did start fresh sorta today. the past few days for me have been extremely stressing life stuff...but i did lose a few pounds but did not even take the pills....for i really didnt even eat...but a happy for the little loss none the less...

i think i was 202ish on last thursday and today when i weighed in...i was at 196.5 so to finaly for the day at least to be under the 200 mark i am happy....but have a long way to go yet....(46.5pounds) to be at my goal....

    Re: total disappointment

Thats awesome!! Under 200! I would be really happy with that. Good going!! You should be happy with that!! I have a lot more to go still. My goal is 150, although I would like to be 135. The reason I work out so much is because of life and all the things it loves to throw at you when you least expect it. Stress adds weight to you. So what I do is when I start getting stressed, I hit the gym or go for a walk until my minds clear. Try it and see if it helps you. I bought a lot of the 100 calorie packs also to have as a midafternoon snack or something after dinner, hours before I go to bed.

We both have a long way to go, but it seems that it works, just real slow, which is good. If the weight comes off too fast, then its easier to put it right back on.  I do have problems remembering to take the vitamins.

    Re: total disappointment

    hello,

if you want the alli pill to work, you need a good amount of cardio workout, preferably 30-45mins of cardio workout each day non-stop. this will only work if you eat 3 filling meals during the day and take your pill along with it. say you work out in the mornings, so you'll need to eat someting filling, has calories but wont be over-doing it. personally i eat the south beach living breakfast wraps, 16 ounces of fruit juice, and an apple. that may seem small, but the pectin in the apple shuold fill you up.  the best time to hit your fat stores would be 25 mins after you eat, letting it digest and letting alli absorb most of the calorie intake. with this, you'll burn off so much of your fat stores and you'll notice a change in your weight in 3-4 days. that is, considering you dont binge of sweets, over-snack or eat too little.

im only 18 so you might not feel like taking the advice but i have lost up to 5 pounds in a school week with eating properly and getting good exercise. everyones body is different and i play waterpolo for  two and a half hours a day, so the cardio is a bit more intense. try this and see if it helps. reply back with your results and i can look into helping you further.

    Re: total disappointment

Teamninja. Thank you... I understand due to running a weight loss clinic at 16, people didn't believe me until they started working at their diet and see that I was right. So you are correct I am sure. I work out for a minimum of an hour a day at the gym. Thats not including walking a mile or two a day. I take 2 nights a week off at the gym. I have already gone thru the starter kit and feel its just nuts to spend another $75 on more so I am going to see what happens if I do what I was already doing, just without the pills... this out to be interesting.

    Re: total disappointment

Just stick with it, it has worked - if only for a few noticable pounds.

If you've lost a little weight once, you can do it again, and again, and soon that's a lot of weight lost.

I take the TE as a slap on the wrist and a free emergency semi-fix. Better out than in.

All of the weight I've lost was lost with that in mind. I'm still going :D

I was 270. I am 213. I will be 150. will you still love me in famine as when love began at the harvest? or would you gain the whole world? son, I love you at your darkest

    Re: total disappointment

Thorny- I'm with you!!  Too d... easy to put on and too d... hard to get off  and now I have to do math?????  and exercise???!! Ah, well - nobody said this was easy.

I'm starting Alli for the second time - first was last summer - lost about 10 pounds then went on vacation and had surgery - got extremely depressed and gained everything plus 10 pounds more back.  Today is day 1 for me, again.  Keep on trying, our health is too important for us to give up.  And four pounds is four pouds, don't belittle it.

    Re: total disappointment

    Hi Everyone,

I want to clarify that you burn fat all day, not just 20 to 30 minutes into your workout. You lose weight when you are consuming fewer calories than your body needs. The best way to cut calories is through your diet. You can cut 500 calories per day from your food a lot easier than 500 from activity. I like to leave the calories burned by activity as additional calories, not ones that you calculate into your daily needs. I have a post on the beginning of this board about reaching your calories. Take a look at that for more details about how this works.

Let me know if you have any questions,
