What multi-vitamin has everyone been taking?I have had excellent results and have great tips!

I have had excellent results from taking Alli. At a starting weight of 223LBS and at 5'1, I lost 19LBS on my own just taking fast food out of my diet, regular pop and walking the dogs a few days a week leaving me at 204lbs. I decided my goal would be to take Alli starting Jan/2008 for a new year, new me. I am happy to say that I am 175 lbs now and have lost 29lbs in a matter of 3.5 months. I don't really follow any specific "diet plan" I just eat what I want in moderation and stay under my fat grams. If there is something naughty that I am feeling like I am going to enduldge in then I look online for a figure friendly version. I suggest that to anyone and everyone! Because if your anything like me, I crave things that aren't so good for me and I hate to say it but alot of the time I give in! So i got fed up and got myself into a new routine of just using reduced fat everything. I also exersize on 2-4 times a week with 30-45 min cardio with a magazine I can read, the time tends to go by faster. I also do strength training at the gym for about 30 min with stretching at the end. I have to say, the alli pill has only given me treatment affects one time and it was not unexpected, i had a stomach ache before and along with that came the treatment affects. I am wondering what multi-vitamin all of you are taking? I have a hard time wanting to take one because they usually make me feel nauseus and then I cannot have my coffee. I hope my story inspires some of you, because loosing weight is VERY HARD and i am a very impatient person, but it is so worth the wait. The year is going to go by anyways, why not loose weight in the mean time? -Sarah (20 years old from Seattle, WA)

Great job Sarah!  I too get sick to my stomach from my multi-vitamin so I've been taking them at bedtime and they haven't bothered me at all (probably because I am asleep!).

    Keep up the good work!

I take mine at bedtime too, not becuz they make me queezy but it's just easier for me to remember, but yesterday on the Today Show, they were discussing vitamins and said they should be taken with food so the the nutrients are more fully absorbed. Just a thougt you might wanna know.

I take Viactiv...it's the chewable chocolate ones, the multi vitamin, not just the calcium. They are yummy. I take them at bedtime too, I read that you should take them at night because Alli prevents your body from absorbing the vitamins so they should not be taken within a couple hours of each other. So, I take mine right before bed.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I must say I admire your will power, strength and dedication. It sounds like you are doing great. I cant say the same though. Alli has helped me lose 13 pounds since the first week of January. But weight loss has stalled for me. I went over a couple times but I really am not sure why I havent lost any more. But I am not giving up. Spring is around the corner and then I can really incorporate a walking regime. Until then, I am working on keeping off the 13 pounds. I will need to know how to do that if I ever lose what I need to, which is about 60 more pounds. Keeping my chin up and checking out all the success stories to keep me motivated.

I like what you said about the year going by, why not lose weight in the mean time. So true.

Thanks for the great success story!

And keep up the good work!

I am taking Centrum chewables at bedtime. I get tired of swallowing whole pills so I figured I'd actually take it loyally if I got chewables. They taste like orange and not bad. I would probably like to try the Viactiv ones so I can trick myself into thinking I'm cheating on my diet lol.

    Lorna,

You are right, the alli materials indicate that vitamins should be taken in the evening because some vitamins are "fat soluble" meaning they need some fat in the stomach in order to be used by the body.  When you take alli during the day, it gets rid of so much of the fat that the vitamins don't get absorbed as well.

I take a liquid vitamin called vibe.  My doctor told me about it.  It seems to work really well with alli.  I take it at bedtime mixed in a glass of juice.

    Good luck,

Thank you for your message. 13 pounds is amazing! 13 pounds ago I bet you didn't feel as great as you do now. There has been so many times that I have been discouraged by not loosing as much as I'd like to, and honestly I just step up my work out. It's hard to push myself and keep the modivation, but they say the best way to loose weight is to burn more then you consume! Good luck with everything and thank you for the encouraging post. -Sarah
