    Suggested foods

All right, I give in to the program suggestions. Going by my choices the first day, I was 218 calories over the goal, and 21.4 g. over the fat goal. Nevertheless, I feel that I am making progress. Snacks, or my choice of them, appear to have been the real culprit in the past. None the first day of the program for me. Shaving off 10% of my calories and 20 g. of fat shouldn't be that hard to do. "Clean out my refrigerator"? Yes, I will do that today, at least for safety reasons.      ... The there's Easter Dinner planning, ... oh, boy ...   :-/

    Re: Suggested foods

There are a few ways to do this.  Like any other new activity it takes a little getting used to + some practice.  So you may not make the goals precisely every day, but pretty soon you'll be fairly close.

It's fine to follow the Sample Menus exactly; and it's fine to develop your own menus.  In that case, you can use the Sample Menus as a pattern, or guide, for how to distribute your calories and fat throughout the day.

Remember that your food habits didn't develop in a day, and they won't change in a day.  But with some repetition, over several weeks you'll see some impressive changes with your food choices AND your weight.

As for Easter, it will be a challenge but you can do it.  If you're cooking it will be easier to cut the butter and fat from vegetables, side dishes and salads.  Instead of a full (or several!) dessert, have a couple of bites so you're satisfied and still within your fat guidelines.

Planning is the operative word with alli.  It's looking ahead at your weekly schedule and writing a few sample menus based on what you think your day will be like, and where you're most likely to be eating.  If there are some gaps and food may not be available it's very, very important to bring along some snacks.  This will avoid going too long without food and then splurging because you're really hungry.

We're all here to help you so let us/me know if you need anything else.
