Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

Hello everyone!  I'm 44 yrs old, have 2 children (22 and 16) both at home still and married for 13 yrs.  I started Alli 4 days ago and so far I'm really looking forward to weigh in day.

For the person who was asking about checking in.....you have to wait 10 days to do so, if it's been sooner than that you will have to wait.

I started in Oct '07 to lose weight at 240 lbs and went down to 170lbs and I was stuck there for 8 months.  Then BAM!, I gained 10 lbs really fast.  Then I gained some more. So I'm at 183 right now. I was at 185lbs!!!!  YIKES!  So now I have to lose this weight and be done with this.  I want to maintain already!!!  LOL

Good luck to everyone!  Come back and talk.

I would love to have a weight loss buddy.  I start my Alli tomorrow.   I am 39, will be 40 in July!  I just had my daughter March 19, 2008 and am looking for support to help shed those pounds.

batthead ~ I'll be here everyday.  Somedays maybe not til late in the evening, but I'll get here!  Turning 40, huh?  Are you going to celebrate it?  I had a big party.  Loved it!  Some ppl have a hard time turning 40, I have no issue with my age.  I feel and look young, so what's a number! LOL  How much weight do you want to lose?  I have 25ish pounds to get rid of for now then I'll decide if I want to keep on going.  Watch your fat intake and stick to your calories too.  It's tough to stay within your calories and get to your fat intake they want you to have. But there are tricky ways to get your fat without the calories.  If you have trouble let us know.  We all are here to help one another.

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

I would also like a weight loss buddy ... I'm 58, married, work a fulltime and demanding job, our only child is living on his own.  I track my calories and fats about 6 days out of 7.  I have some physical limitations (osteoarthritis and an ankle that's not stable) but I work around them and exercise 4 to 5 days a week.  I've consistently worked at losing weight since 2006 and started Alli in late 2007.  The weight comes off very slowly but I've lost (and kept off) 34 lbs. - Jane

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

I would like a weight loss buddy.  I bought the Alli over two weeks ago, and finally started two days ago (fearing the side effects).  My weight went up to 169 which freaked me out.  I've been able to lose 10 lbs veeerrrryyyy slowly, but have been at a stand still for a while, and thought I needed a boost.  I just turned 45 and my metabloism ain't what it used to be.  I don't have much time for exercise, but do when I can.  Busy, busy busy - just like everyone else out there.

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

Hi,   I just started this week (2 days), and am exploring this web stuff.  I would love to have a buddy to talk to on this journey.  I am engaged, live w/ my fiance', and have a 12 yr. old son that lives w/ us.  I have a stressful job, and then have to go home to cooking, cleaning & laundry - and somehow be able to fit time in there for myself?  Hmmm....very hard to do.  I'm frustrated w/ my weight and would like to shed another 10-15.  I've lost ten pounds very slowly, but need to lose more.

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

I would love to be a buddy!  I need the accountability for myself, and also it somehow makes it easier trying to lose weight when I know I am not the only one.

I am 43, married with an 11 year old daughter.  I work outside the home, and by the time I get home at night I'm exhausted.  I can't make dinners that take long to prepare, since I get home around 6:00 pm.  I know I won't get up earlier in the morning than I already do to exercise, so I take the stairs at work alot and also use my break time to go for walks.  It helps!  I've been losing about 1 - 2 lbs a week.  I figure when I stop losing I will have to up the exercise.  Of course, I would like to have lost more weight, but since I'm doing it so slowly it doesn't feel like I'm working too hard at it.  I mean, of course I'm working at it - but I just meant that the changes I'm making don't feel too drastic and so I feel pretty good that I can maintain these new habits after I reach my goal weight.

I hope to support (and be supported by) all the great people here.  Let's stay motivated and achieve our goals! :)

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

     Good Evening Scoonchy,

My name is Francine and I would love to be your buddy. I am 54 years of age and just started the Alli Program on Monday of this week. I have losted four pounds since and I am experiencing Treatment Effects. I have not mastered how to plan my meals to meet my daily calorie intaked or fat intake. Some how I eat more fat grams than I am suppose to and I can't seem to get close to my daily intake of calories. Over the past day or two I have been getting better,  I have not yet started to execise and I hope to Monday. My calorie intake has decreased as of today. My max daily calorie intake was 1800 but to day after checking in, it was reduced to 1600 with a max fat gram intake of 17 grams per day.

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

     Hi Francine,

We sound like we are in similar stages.  My max was 1800 and was reduced to 1600 a week ago.  I don't have TE (except for one day when I totally overdid it) but I find I can meet my calories but it's harder to meet the fat.  Perhaps that's one reason why my weight loss is slower than some others, about 10lbs in 7 weeks.

I'm not really the poster child for Alli, meaning I don't follow the menus etc...  I modify things I like to eat, or eat smaller portions.  Once thing I found helps me is frozen meals for lunch.  I get lean cuisines - but the higher calorie ones like chicken parm with 300-310 calories and 9 grams of fat.  Or lean hot pockets.  then I have a side salad with light dressing.  And, I confess, I often have a couple of chips ahoy cookies for a snack. :)  I also have zone bars at my desk.  In the morning, I have an english muffin with natural peanut butter - yum!  So fatty and satisfying, but not over my cals or fat grams.  Perhaps packaged foods are not the best choice, but it helps me keep count of my intake and is just convenient for someone like me who is so unorganized and rushed in the morning.

For dinner, I have regular home-prepared meals, just smaller portions.  I'm sure if I followed the plan more religiously I would have lost more weight by now.  But my main goal right now is to make incremental, small changes that I will be able to maintain for the rest of my life and I feel that I am doing that.  How much weight are you looking to lose?  I started at 191, am down to 181.5, and want to lose about 40 lbs more (50 lbs total.)

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

Are you still looking for a weight loss partner?  I am.  I am 58 years old also.  I have two daughters 35 and 32.  The girls dad (my first husband), died in 1997.  I married again in 2001.  My husband has two sons. They are 36 and 33.  Together we have six grandchildren.

I have battled weight for the past 15 years.  Six years ago I lost 18 lbs., reached my goal weight, kept if off for 2 years, then I started gaining, and gaining and gaining.  I have been on the program for 8 weeks now.  I started off at 183 and am down to 170.  The last three weeks I have stopped logging my food and am beginning to snack more.  I dread getting on the scale (tomorrow is my weight check).  I use to exercise, when I lost the 18 lbs six years ago, I was completely comitted to exercise, this time I cannot force myself to get into a program.  I know this is key to my program.  So why am I so resistant?

I also have trouble with this site so I hope you get this and respond.  NeverEver

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

I'm not in the New England area, I am in Louisville, Ky. but I need a buddy.  I am 58 and have 30 lbs. to lose yet.  I have lost 13 lbs.  The last couple of weeks I have lost my enthusiasm.  I have stopped logging my food and am starting to have more snacks.  They are "healthy snacks" but still, more than I was doing my first six weeks.  I dread getting on the scale tomorrow for my weigh in.  I need to start exercising, but I do not seem to be able to force myself to do it.  Hope you are up for another buddie.  Neverever.

Re: Does anyone want a weight loss buddy?

Hi, I'm new to alli.  I started on June 28 and lost 3.6 lbs so far.  I am worried that this will be as far as I get.  I worry about the fat amount too.  I am a mother of 2, 1 boy 17 and 1 girl 15.  I live in PA.  I would welcome any conversations.  Good luck to all.  I am ready to make a change.
