    Illness.

    Hi

I have been down with influenza and penomnia since March 14.  I am just starting back to work this week.  I have lost 8.5 lbs and now have gained 3 back.  I am also on a medication called Depekote for Mirgraines. This med also causes weight gain. I am on the 1400 call 15 fat grams a meal. My question how do I control the weight gain?  I would like to drop down to 1200 cal a day.  Next week I can start to exercise again.  I have not been able to since March 12.

so any help will be appreciated.

    Thank

    DMHelmer

    Re: Illness.

    Hi DMHelner,

I believe you can change to 1200 calories by editing the weight in your profile.  Other than that you follow a 1200 calorie per day plan.

You try to prevent weight gain while on certain types of medications by still following the usual routine of exercise and reduced caloric consumption and by understanding why a particular medication causes weight gain.  With depakote, your hunger centers in the brain may be altered due to neurotransmitter (brain hormones) balances so you need to be more vigilant when you are eating and watch those calories.

    Hope this helps.
