    Re: Super excited!!

Congratulations to everyone! I too, have been on the plan for four weeks and have lost 12 lbs. I have never had any TE's until today!! The thing that is freaking me out is, I have NO IDEA how or when I went over my fats!!!??  I have reviewed everything that I've eaten over the last few days and can NOT figure it out. The only thing I had different lately was the spring roll last night. I weighed it and it was exactly 2 oz. so, I counted it as 10 grams of fat. Maybe I was off, I don't know. It came from a Chinese restaurant but, a book said that would be the correct amount. I also had an english muffin with a smidge of margarine and jelly. Other than that, I've had chicken, a low fat Subway grinder, and other very low fat foods over the last few days.

I've heard that the TE's would be terrible but, I have to say that they were definitely 'controlable'. I saw BRIGHT orange on the paper and tiny drops of bright orange in the toilet water. Also had loose stools. (sorry to be graphic) So, if you ever see that bright orange color, don't freak! lol  I had to leave for my salon in 10 minutes and I was very worried that I would have more problems but, I was ok. Just thought I'd give you a little info on the TE's 'cuz I know some of you haven't experienced them and hopefully never will!

Keep up the good work everyone!

I experienced my first TE's this week (been on Alli for a month) because I ate low fat turkey smoked sausage and mashed potatoes with butter. I was bad. I'm not sure the effects you suffered were actually "TE's". I had a much worse reaction (and that's what I've read about the TE's) where a bathroom was needed right away. I had quite a bit of the oily "spotting" when I first started Alli but did not understand that to be TE's. Might be worth checking into.

I think I'm going to review the TE info as well.

    Re: Super excited!!

(** Disclaimer: This is a graphic explanation of my only major TE - do not read if you do not want to be subjected to it.)

Yes I have had the oily spotting - I would not consider that a TE. That is minor and truth be told if I don't see at least a little bit of oil in the bowl I dont think the Alli has done its job. I usually see little tiny droplets when I do go, but the bathroom proceedings are typical (meaning as a general rule, I do not have oily farts or an urgency to potty). I have only had a real TE once, after a beef burrito which had way more fat in it than I thought it did. It was not pleasant. Within an hour after eating and taking the pill I felt very bloated. As the evening progressed it felt like a lot of gas building up and the bloating continued through the next day, began to feel some cramping and pressure like constipation. I had not had a bowel movement since I ate the burrito. I already suspected the burrito was the culprit and was on guard for a TE. Well, Monday came and I was still experiencing the cramping and pressure. After I got to work and had my morning coffee, I suddenly had to potty, and boy did I ever. If I hadn't been on the lookout for a TE I might've had one of those oily farts I hear horror stories about - dont want that at the office, thanks. So I went (quickly, mind you) to the restroom and lo and behold, major TE, containing lots of the orange oil, both big blobs and tiny drops, as well as loose stool. I mean there was a lot of oil, both in the bowl and on the paper. It was pretty gross actually. Though I felt much better after this potty trip, I had another similar episode about an hour later, and another much lesser episode later that afternoon. Make no mistake, my friends, that is a real, honest-to-God TE. Minor oil in the bowl during a normal BM just does not compare and is nothing to worry about.
