    BEER??

How many per day, if any per day? I LOVE beer, so I am looking for some advice. Should you drink Mich Ultra? Natural Light? Bud Light? Nothing at all? What about rum and diet coke? Don't want to sound crazy, just have the taste for a couple beers while cooking after a long day at work.

    Re: BEER??

I had a few yesterday and since Feb probally had about 12 a week. I enjoy Miller light only 96 calories.  However do not consume if you haven't worked out to deserve it.  Those calories are just useless. But I enjoy the taste and I like to have one or two after gardening or washing the car. So just be sure you have worked those calories off.  Enjoy in moderation.

    Re: BEER??

I like your question about rum and diet, Bicardi is my poison and I love it, though I've been steering clear of alcohol since I've started dieting afraid that it wouldn't help me any.

Jessica I need as much help as I can get!!! I am open and welcome any thoughts or advice that you may have. We are all trying to reach the same goal here and I am glad I came.

    Re: BEER??

Hey everyone!  This is my 1st time to post.  I have just started the Alli program.  After only 2 weeks I have already lost 8 pounds.  Woo Hoo!!!!!  I'll take it.

Something I have been doing, cause I love my evening cocktail/beer, I substitute diet Coke/Pepsi instead of regular cola when I have a beam or rum and coke.  Instead of regular fruit juice, I've been experimenting with some V8 Fussion(full serving of fruit and full serving of vegetables in every glass).  And as for my beer, I just started subing the litest or ultra lites that I can stand.

I think the most important thing to remember is to not to be too hard and over do it by push ourselves too hard.  I'm gonna lose the weight, with the the help of Alli and any support I can get.  And I'm gonna keep it off.  The biggest difference between losing it this time and the other times is that I plan on doing the best I can, relaxing and just trying to enjoy this as much as I can.  I'm not trying to do everything perfectly.  Perfection, the un achievable, will only let you down.  Life is too short.

So just do the best you can and enjoy life as much as possible.

    Re: BEER??

I am a Corona/Heinekin girl and all of my friends tries to sway me to the Mich Ultra side.  However, I'd rather not drink beer at all then drink Mich Ultra!  So, I did some research...I forget the exact difference in calories between Corona Light and Mich Ultra, but it was minimal!  I love Corona light, so, that's what I drink.  Not a big fan of the Heinekin light-but it's better than ultra!

Also, I wnated to let you know that I have been trying not to drink at all since the diet started.  This is only because I noticed that I am more likely cheat by noshing on chips and other munchies if I have a few drinks.

Does anyone know about Bailey's?  That is my favorite night-cap, but I don;t know about fat/calories.

    Re: BEER??

Beer has alot of yeast and calories which will put pounds on you. The so called light or ultra light beer, all the same its just like saying light and ultra light cigs are less harmful to you umm yeah right. I'm sorry but if your really committed to losing the weight you gotta loss the alcohol any and all of it. And soda its okay to drink it but to nuch is not good it has alot caffine and carbonation which causes that grossly cottage cheese look in your butt, legs, and thighs.

    Re: BEER??

Gotta love this category! I too am a beer drinker/lover. I have not had any TE's from drinking...in public (where I drink less) or home (where I tend to drink more!) but do try to plan my calorie intake during the day if I know I will be drinking. They are totally useless and wasteful calories, but I am not prepared to give up EVERYTHING I enjoy. I am happy with my weight loss (13 lbs); my excercise routine has gone from walking 1 mi to 5 miles (just since I started on 3/31) and my eating habits have improved a thousand fold! I am a 48 yr old female so it isn't getting any easier for me to lose the weight! As for beer choices...of course your lites (miller, bud, etc.) have less than 100 cals but I have also had heavier beers (Heffefisen, Pilsner Urquel, Blue Moon) with no TE's. I also try very hard not to drink during the week. What has worked for me is I used to by a 20 pack on Friday and then just drink the leftovers during the week. Now I only buy a 12 pack and work really hard (hehehehe!) to make sure its all gone by Sunday.

As with everything...enjoy with moderation. If you are used to having a few beers/cocktails and totally cut it out, I believe you will just crave it more and tend to overdo. I'll get off my soapbox now....

    Re: BEER??

I don't believe at all that we should cut out our beer/alchohol intake. Maybe slow it down a bit and watch for the lighter beers at the bar. We have completely changed our lifestyles for this diet. I believe we should be able to be us a little bit Don't you?

    Re: BEER??

Yes it is true that alcohol is not helpful at all in losing weight.. However, there IS  a difference in drinking regular beer compared to light. Some regular beers can be over 200 calories per serving! Where as a Miller light is only 96. So if one goes out and has a beer or two, choosing the light beer is much smarter then the regular!
