Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

Good morning fellow Alliers --  Nice to meet everyone.  Will add a little something about myself also.

    name: Nikki

     age: 57

married: 8 yrs into my second and last marriage.

    kids: 2 sons, age 34 & 38, one stepdaughter 22, a 25, 30, and 31 yr old stepsons.  6 grandchildren, all boys.

pets: 2 shih tzu's, the mother who is 4 1/2 and daughter who is 1 1/2

    ht: 5' 6"

wt: 225, but slowing going down.  goal weight is 145.

work: RN work full time in a community clinic

Alli start date:  I've started over too many times to know the real date but going to count Monday 28th of April as my official start.

hardest part: making sure I get enough fats in

easiest part: a wide variety of foods some I can have that have been off limits on other diets.  I've tried numerous ones, Jenny Craig (can't afford that!) HMR..it was good but can't afford that either.  Nutrisystem...I never did well on that one..hungry ALL of the TIME!  Don't like the feeling of hunger for sure.  WeightWatchers..now that is a good one and I did do well on it but need something else.  So that is a little bit about me.  April Flowers...good name.  Hope everyone has a terrific day today!

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

I am excited to be a part of this group.  I agree that we can all have different weigh-in days and it shouldn't matter.  Mine is Thursday but I'm not supposed to officially check in until next Thursday.  However, I did weigh myself and so far:

    Starting weight:  177.8

    Current weight:  175.4

I've lost 2.4 pounds so far.  I think that is pretty decent considering the fact that I have done little for excercise the last week.  And I also ate out twice at nicer restaurants where I didn't know the official calorie and fat count of the food.  The first resulted in pretty bad treatment effects and the second also had some, but not quite as bad (I had grilled salmon, which I thought was a decent choice compared to the other two choices on the menu).  I am still having slight treatment effects every day (oily gas) which is less than romantic and sends me to the bathroom twice as much as usual in the evenings.  I don't really get it, because I've watched my intake very closely and have gone under my fat gram target for every meal except those two meals out.

Anyway, I am happy to be a part of the group and happy to be losing weight instead of gaining it!

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

Okay, I got a little confused about how to read the boards and I thought the most recent posts were the first page, not the last, so I missed all the info about us using Monday as a report day.  Sorry about that!  I'll keep my check-in day as Thursday but will also report in with everyone on Monday.  I also like the name "April Flowers." Here's my background info:

    Name:  Katie

    Age:  26

Married:  Yes, for almost 2 years

    Kids: none yet

Pets:  Boston Terrier named Wrigley, 2 farm cats (one is VERY pregnant, so we will have more!)

    Height: 5'7''

    Current Weight:  175

    Long Term Goal:  145

Work/Stay at Home:  Full-time plus intership 24 hours per week.  Social Worker.

    Alli start date:  April 24th

Hardest part with Alli:  What to do when eating out.  I have had treatment effects since I started, even though I watch my fat intake closely.

Easiest part of Alli:   Eating better to try to avoid treatment effects.  Also, I love that I will have a support group here.

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

Good Morning ladies!!  It is so nice to read up on everyone...I am glad we are all sharing with eachother.

Looks like we are officially the "April Flowers" and everyone is up to a physical challenge.  I like the idea of challenging ourselves to increase our regular routine.  We could start with adding 10% to 20%, so if you normally do a 30 minute workout - next week you will do 33 to 36 minutes.  We should start a new "April Flowers" thread and we can keep track of our progress.  Sound good ladies??

Forgive me for not remembering names, but I just wanted to comment to the ladies talking about the spinning classes.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE spinning classes.  Like you said it can really be one of the most intense workouts and with the right instructor the time flys by!  I would get off my bike dripping in sweat and I was in great shape at the time.  I went 6 days a week, alternating instructors, which worked out great because one instructor was more a sprinter and the other like to climb hills.  I miss my classes!!

Tomorrow is my offical weigh-in for "myalliplan"....why do I get so nervous?  Like a highschool student with a big test tomorrow?  It is so crazy!  It is even more crazy because I weigh myself everyday so you would think knowing what to expect from the day before would take away that anxious feeling...maybe I am just crazy!  Anyone else weigh daily?  I have serious scale issues!

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday!

    Bonnie

Bonnie after reading your post I had to go see how old you are. I forgot your age. Good job on your workouts.  I don't think I could keep up with you there but you go for it girl!  Guess I will stick with walking my dogs.  LOL

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

txrebette,  LOL....don't worry I could not keep up with that schedule now either!  I was probably in the best shape of my life back then and 100% dedicated to exercise.  Now I get exhausted just thinking about those days..lol!

Although, my hope is to one day be back to the old Bonnie.  I do love how I feel when I am working out and working out hard.

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

    hey bonnie,

like you...i completely stress about weighing in. especially, right now because i seem to be having scale issues. but, like you, i weigh almost on a daily basis. and, usually, that makes for a bad morning. i, too, have serious scale issues!!! (wish they made a pill for that.) i'd love to have the discipline to only weigh on Friday's (myalliplan check in date). tomorrow is my first check in since i started alli

mostly i wish i had a scale i could trust. i've thought about going back to my old scale. it's a sturdier scale, but it has the "dial". the one i'm using now is digital, but a cheapy. and you can get on it, get off and get right back on, and it will weigh you 3 to 4 pounds lighter/heavier. any advise?

anyway...good luck tomorrow. do you want to start an "april showers" post for all of us to check in? if you do, post here so we'll all know to head over to the new post.

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

hi, guys! i'm excited to be an april flower, and i'm also excited about the physical challenge. i too LOVE spinning! but i just have a question. i'm now 48 hours in ,and i've had no TE's so far. is that normal? i've been cooking normal dinners for my family, which are pretty healthy. i want my kids to be healthy. i've just been having a smaller amount than normal. so i guess i'm wondering, do i need to up my fat intake or is it ok to not have the TE's. BTW my sorry, gross, but BM's have been a few times a day. usually i'm about every 2 days or so, is that a TE? any advice would be great! i just want to know it's doing something!

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

    hi ann,

well, i'm kinda new to alli but if you're going more frequently but you aren't uncomfortable my guess would be that the alli is doing it's job. taking in too much fat is what causes the bad t.e.'s, cramping, diarrhea, etc. so, alli is removing the amount of fat it is supposed to (that explains the more frequent movements). because you aren't overdoing it, you're not having any discomfort.

i could be way off.  like you, (don't mean to get too graphic) i only "go" about every 2 to 3 days. i'm going almost daily now. so, i take that to mean alli is working.

i guess the scale will tell me tomorrow if it really is.

Re: Hi, new here-weight loss buddy anyone?

    Alicia,

My digital scale does the same thing.  Not by 3 or 4 pounds but there can easily be up to a pound difference in a matter of seconds.  I usually pick the lowest weight...lol!

Ann, I have been on Alli for 3 weeks and have yet to experience a TE.  I wish I could say I was going more often because I have always suffered from constipation.  I have read on other post that after a few days on Alli your body should adjust back to what ever is normal for you.

Ok ladies...I am off to make our new thread!  We can keep track of eachother and our challenge results.
