    So far so good...

    So far so good...

I am a newbie to the Alli diet, I actually have not started taking it yet. I'm still getting used to the whole low fat diet, counting calories etc. I have never been one to count calories, I really dont like to. But (grudingly) I have to admit that it does help and I am so surprised at the numbers when it comes to what I am used to eating everyday. I am begining to look at what is better for me to eat for meals and snacks and I feel so much better. To top it off - I have lost 11 lbs since I started on the 23rd!! WOO!! I know that this is not going to be the norm, but it is great way to start a diet. I've started working out as well, so I hope that too will help me lose the baby weight that I have put on since having my little angel.

I know that I will never be one of those skinny women, and to be honest I dont want to be. I was never skinny-skinny, I've always had curves but they were in all the "right" places. Unlike now - my curves have taken over :)   I would like to get back to my pre-baby weight. My ultimate goal is...... to have my husband look at me and have that WOW look in his eyes like he did when we first met. Dont get me wrong - my husband is the most loving and supportive man, he tells me constantly that I am beautiful and always will be. But, I feel like he looks at me and sees his wife or the mother if his child. Not a sexy, attractive woman. And I know that's a lot to ask for in a diet, but it's really the confidence and the pride that comes with losing the weight that I want.

So, here's to taking that first baby step towards my goal! 11 lbs down, 49 more to go....

    Re: So far so good...

    Jenn,

Congrats!  11 pounds is amazing!  You are surely on the right track.  I am also one of those woman that does not want to be a skinny minny - I am very happy and confident at 175lbs (BTW I am 6'2" so 175 works very well on my tall self!), I have been as low as 145lbs and was less confident at that size than at 175lbs.  I believe there is such thing as too skinny.  I LOVE my curves - when they are in the right places...lol!

I am also trying to lose baby weight.  My little guy is 8 months old and I am so tired of being fat.  This pregnancy was a killer for me and I gained around 90 pounds and I am having the hardest time getting it off.

Have you started an exercise routine?  If so, what are you doing?  I am always looking for advice in that department.  I hate to exercise but I realize it is a necessary evil!

Hopefully we can see eachother to our goals...

    Re: So far so good...

Bonnie, I love your signature line. It is so very true.  Since it is nice out (here in southern California) I have been walking around the neighborhood with the family.  After dinner we throw the kids in the stroller and push them around the block.  It feels so nice to be out and about doing something good for the body.  Pushing the stroller is great exercise.  I recommend it.  Hope this helps.

    Re: So far so good...

    Rebecca,

I try and get out with the stroller a couple times on the weekends.  I work full time so my time during the week is limited.  I have exactly one hour after work that I can commit to the gym before I pick up the baby from the babysitters.  I try to make the best of it but sometimes feel like it just is not enough time.  Latyely, I have been really really good about the gym going 5 - 6 days a week.  My fear is that I will get bored and give up on the gym like I have done so many times in the past.  I guess i just have to keep finding new ways to keep myself interested and motivated.

BTW....great results on your weightloss!  You are doing fantastic!

    Re: So far so good...

I hear you on the tired of being fat! My pregnancy was pretty easy. I gained about 50 lbs - which on a 5'1" gal is noticable. The delivery was the killer for me. 18 hours of labor and they had to run me over to do a C-section. I lost almost 3 times the amt of blood that I was supposed to and I had a reaction to the meds and stopped breathing so I was in recovery for a while. I just got the ok to start working out etc a couple of months ago.

Anyways, I am starting off pretty easy on the workout. I do M-W-F 45 minutes on my stationary bike at level 3, then 15 minutes of alternating squats and lunges. That usually comes out to 3 sets of 12 each by the time I hit the 15 minute mark. I am rather clumsy so I dont go very fast :) On T-Th-Sat I do all upper body: push ups and weights. But to get rid of my middle, I have been doing sit ups with every workout. I find that doing 50 before I start and 50 after is great - that way my stomach doesnt get so sore all at once and I have more energy to do all of them and not cheat.

I used to be a runner - I loved running. But since that is not an option for me now, I find that what I am doing so far is fun and easy to stick to. If only the diet were that easy! I had an ice cream craving last night that come out of left field. The temptations! Hopefully it will get easier with time.

    Take care and good luck!!

    Re: So far so good...

    Jenn,

Wow.....sounds like you had a very scary delivery.  I am glad that you are getting back into the swing of things.  With both of my pregnancies I was very blessed to have very easy labors both took less than an hour from start to finish.  I could not imagine what you went through.

Sounds like you have a good work out schedule.  Right now I am going to the gym 6 days a week.  I alternate days from cardio (treadmill: I sprint for 2 minutes then cool for 4 minutes and keep repeating...it is tough!)  and strength training (I use the circuit training machines.  I try to hit most of them and then walk on the treadmil for 10 -15 minutes depending on how tired I am).  Before I was pregnant I took spinning classes 6 days a week and was in great shape.  I wish my schedule with the baby allowed me to go back to the classes.

Regarding icecream....have you tried the Skinny Cow icecreams or the weight watchers icecream?? They are delicious and very low fat!  I think less than 3 grams.  Almost feels like a cheat.  You just have to be careful not to eat more than one...lol
