    Frustrated! :(

    I have been on alli for three weeks now.  My starting weight was 180.  I gained 4 pounds the first week of alli; I lost 3 the second week, and I gained 1 this week... for a total GAIN of 2 pounds.  Until a couple of days ago, I was very strict with my fat intake and never had any treatment effects.  I do have some trouble staying under 1600 calories, but never went over by much more than that.  I'm always hungry these days. 

    Any suggestions?  :(

    hi mccarter,

    i understand your frustration. i began alli 4/21. i have a bad habit of weighing daily (although i only "count" my friday weight...which is my weigh in day). i was up yesterday morning and again this morning. i don't feel hungry, but i do feel deprived.

    i wish i had some words of wisdom for you. i can't understand why you're gaining if you're basically staying in the right calorie/fat targets. have you had your thyroid checked? maybe a moderator would be able to help you. and don't forget to watch your sodium intake and make sure you're getting your water in each day.

    whenever my scale doesn't cooperate i try to tell myself this.....just think about all the good things you're doing for yourself that you can't see. yes, what we do is cosmetic, but, the long term health benefits are more important. making healthy choices, exercising and taking control of your life (through diet) is empowering.

    don't quit. hang in there!

    You know, I've had the exact same issue... my first week on alli I lost about 4 pounds, but since then I've gained it all back, and my weight hasn't moved from there - at all - in the subseqent two weeks.  I've been exercising regularily and definately watching my food intake, drinking water, etc. - I'm about at my wits end, and I don't know what I should be doing differently!  I am meeting with a dietician next week - I'll be sure to let you know if he suggests anything that seems to work.  :)

    Hi Macarter1981,

    I can understand why you would be frustrated. I will do whatever I can to help.

    You did lose weight so we need to figure out why it stopped. What changed to your eating, calories, fat intake, activity, bowel movements, fluid intake, medications, and/or hormones on the weeks that you did not lose? Give me as much information as possible and we'll come up with a plan together.
