May 1 to 6, all time is for walking. Most days we walked a lot more than 2 hrs. and I carried a backpack with a sweater, rain slicker, water bottle and camera. I fell late on the 3rd so that slowed me down a lot on the 4th. On the 5th we pulled our suitcases and backpacks a couple of blocks to the closest train station, then from the airport station through the airport, then had to claim and recheck the luggage after going through Immigration in Detroit and then reclaim the bags and pull them when we got to our final destination! I didn't time my walking on May 5 but 30 minutes is a conservative estimate. Tonight, there was beautiful weather, so we took a nice easy 35 min stroll. I weighed this morning, and I'm down 1 1/2 lbs. from the morning that I left - I have probably never, ever before lost weight on a vacation!!
No crunches on any days (first read the challenge early this morning).
May 6 cal/fats 1180/57 - it was a very weird sort of half day for me and we only ate 2 meals and a snack.
Jayne - Congrats on the weight loss! I, too, was surprised by the Japanese use of mayonnaise. Our son helped us steer clear of pastries that look like they're cream-filled but are filled with mayonnaise or a mayonnaise and mustard combination (I like mayo on something like a BLT, but, to me, at least, this use of mayo and mustard is disgusting!).
Carol Joy and Patti - Thanks for the welcome back.
Carol Joy - In the States, I'm not much of sushi-eater because I'm concerned about the quality and safety of the raw fish. Our son convinced me to not be so concerned in Japan and so I shared some sashami with him and it was very fresh and the Wasabi made it very good tasting. My husband, who isn't very open to trying different foods, sat there disgusted-looking while he watched us eat the sashimi!! I'm glad I tried it; to me, travel is about new experiences. If you don't update my May 1 to 4, I more than understand!!
Question and answer: I think I was confused about counting strength training because the challenge post states: "DO NOT track the time this BONUS goal take to your overall daily total! You can earn the reward (15 min.) at the end of the challenge!" So, I'm now interpreting that as cardio and strength training minutes count (30 min cardio and 30 min ST = 60 min Total), but, for this week, time spent doing crunches does not count, only the crunches themselves are counted. If I'm still not getting the intent, let me know.
