    My first weight in :(

    I'm a little discouraged or sad, I guess better describes my mood.  I've  been on the program one week - my first weight in was this morning and I only lost 3 lbs.  I guess I expected to lose more in the first week.  I want to know if anyone else feels the same way - if this is normal loss or if I need to do something different than I'm doing!  Thanks - any feedback is appreciated....

    3 pounds is great!  That is acutally above average.  Look at it this way, if you lose 3 pounds a week for the next 9 weeks (that is just over two months) you will be 30 pounds lighter and exceeding your goal weight. 

    I was dissapointed a bit at first too with the slow loss - but when you think long term - those pounds add up real fast!  Like one lady on this board said - if you loose 2 pounds a week for one year that is 104 pounds!  Can you even imagine losing 104 pounds in one year?? 

    Don't feel sad...you are doing great and will be looking AWESOME in no time!

    Thanks Bonnie!  You made me smile :)  I think I needed that.  It just seems as if the weight went ON QUICKLY - I'm just impatient.  You and I are similar in weight and height - I'm 5/11 and would love to exceed my goal weight!  I put 175 to be realistic.   I'm 43 - seems that since I hit the 40 mark everything went down hill and the lbs just kept racking up! 

    I seem to go over calories by about 200 to 300/day (I like my wine) but I don't get enough fat - under about 20 - 30 grams.  I don't know - I have to work at it.

    Hey Tammy, I just wanted to point something out that you may not have thought of. My dear friend lost weight really quickly. She exercised almost daily, but lost so quickly.... she ended up looking like a deflated balloon :0(  I want to lose quickly cuz I'm practically panicked about it, but I do NOT want to look floppity once I've gotten to the right weight! Ya know what I mean?

    Hey Hollie:

    I know what you mean.  I hadn't thought of that.  I bet if we could all just stop thinking about the weight and the scale and do the right fat/calories/pill for a while we'd be very pleased and see positive results.  I'm going to try to do that.  I get on the scales like a freak because I'm afraid I gained back the 3 lbs I lost.  That can't be good.....

    Tammy,  I am glad I made you smile!  That is what this board is all about.

    Regarding adding some fat grams.  I am having the same problems.  I try to add a few almonds after a meal to make up the difference or use regular salad dressing or a tad bit of real butter to add some fat to a low fat meal.  It is crazy to think we are having a trouble adding fat, huh???  I even allow myself a slice of REAL cheese at lunch. 

    I have not had any problem keeping within the calories.  I am usually a tad under. 

    I love logging everything I eat.  I like seeing the results at the end of the day.  Of course, only when I am being good!

    What day do you weigh in?  I will be checking in on you!

    First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!  I think 3 lbs is a good, steady weightloss.  I think we all have such unrealistically high expectations for those first few days and first week of any diet/exercise program.  The long term is the most important.  Feel good girl!  Put a 3 lb weight in one hand.  This is what you have lost!!  To the best of health,    Sandy

    Good ideas. 

     I like logging too - not only does it help me with the meal I'm eating but it also helps me to plan my next meal!  I use www.fitday.com and it also gives the % carbs, fat and protein for the day.  I'm usually low overall on those too.  I guess I'll figure it out as I continue on my journey!

    My weigh in day is Monday - how about you?

    Thanks Sandy - I don't know what I would have done without the message board and support.  Hearing other peoples successful and not so successful stories, comments and suggestions is what keeps you going.

     Have you been on the alli program long?  Are you having success with it, if you don't mind my asking.

    Tammy,

    I weigh in officially on Fridays but I also weigh in with some girls on this board on Mondays in order to keep my weekends in check.  The weekends seem to be the hardest part for me.  I am a saint monday through friday and can be so bad the next two days.

    I am very content with my weight loss because I feel like this is a loss I can maintain.  I do not feel like I am really depriving myself of anything like a typical fad diet.

    Personally, I think a 3 pound lost is astonishing! I’m sure there are a lot of people that would LOVE to “only lose 3lbs.”  :)  Hopefully, it speeds up for you.  I’m sure you’re doing great.

    Three pounds is awesome! I just restarted my pills. I was doing good and then things got stressful but now I am back with a much better support system! I weigh in on Sunday's.

    I am a restarter from approximately a year ago.  I was successful then but did not go for the longer term.  Just started again last Thurs.  And didn't take the pills over the weekend. Was away from home and didn't feel like I would be able to follow through.  I did ok on the meals though, so resumed the pills on Monday.  I had to force myself to get on the treadmill last night, (it was raining out) and I felt so terrific last night and today, it seems to carry you through almost a full day.  Have lost 2 lbs, and do not get on the scale everyday anymore as my pattern has been for years.  The most important thing for me this time around will have to be longevity, and coming back to these boards for my inspiration!!
