help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

I started alli last week and gave up after not seeing any results after 2 days...i am obsessed with the scale.  I weigh myself everyday and if i don't see any results i figure i'm destined to be this way, and drown my sorrows with food.  I can't believe i've gotten this out of control.  Has anyone been where i'm at??? I have no patienence!  Will this plan really work????

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

    blazer -

I know what you mean with the scale.  Don't quit after 2 days.  You bought the pills.   Atleast stick to it for the month and see what happens.  You'll never know if you quit now.  \

I have read a lot of successful posts and have had a lot of support myself from other already into the program.  Go through the threads and posts and read the successes - there are many - hopefully it will motivate you like it did me.  I started last week.  I, too, wanted a miracle - but it's not going to happen.  It's work and dedication.  Remember, this is not just about weight loss, it's about lifestyle changes and changes to a healthier diet.  Try it again.  Log everything you eat on a daily basis.  I use www.fitday.com and I love to see the results at the end of the day.

Please, give it one more try.  Good Luck - you can do it - you made the first step - you bought the product and you reached out on this message board for help!

    Try again!

    Best of luck to you,

    Tammy

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

I am also obsessed with the scale!  Of course when it goes down I am very happy - if it stays the same I am content - and if it raises I feel anxious and a tad worried.  But I know from past experiences the scale is not your most reliable tool.  The scale can vary from as much as 7 pounds at any given moment.  Although, I never see myself not weighing everyday, I do not let it get me down.

On another note, seriously, two days??  Come on....two days simply is not enough time!  You did not gain your weight over night so you simply can not lose it overnight.  I believe for the best results you have to make lifestyle changes.  You have to do things that you can do for the rest of your life that make you healthier and thinner.  You have to be in this for the long haul otherwise even if you were able to lose the weight in a matter of days you would simply gain it back just as fast.

You asked if the plan really works.  I say YES!  It works.  Everything about it makes sense.  Sensible eating and plenty of exercise.  It's the way people have been saying you should lose weight for years.  The reason why people don't listen is we want quick fixes and fall for fad diets that work quickly in the first two weeks and then fall off because there is no way you can live on grapefruit for the rest of your life.

My advice is measure yourself today.  Measure your hips, waist, thighs and arms.  Weigh yourself today.  Lock up the scale.  (I should take my own advice!) Be true to your fat grams per meal and calories for the day, Weigh and measure again in one week.  I bet you see great results!

Good luck....I hope you find what works for you,

    Bonnie

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Oh, honey, what did you expect to see in just two days?  You haven't given Alli a chance to work for you.  It isn't a miracle pill.  It 'helps' us to lose weight if and only if we do our part.  Most people only lose 1-2 lbs per week on the average.  It sounds like you expected to see too much too soon.  Don't compare yourself to anybody else.  Some people do lose a fabulous amount of weight each week in the beginning.  But this initial weight loss is usually water weight and their weight loss soon levels off.  If you will eat healthy, exercise, drink plenty of water, and have a bit of patience, Alli will work for you.  Nothing in the Alli literature or on the Alli web site encourages us to expect spectacular results quickly.  Losing weight slowly and steadily is the healthy way to lose weight.  Weight lost quickly usually returns just as quickly.  You'll do just fine with Alli if you become committed to a lifestyle change.  Read the message boards and you'll find many people who have lost a lot of weight using Alli.  Good luck.

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Yup, I am super frustrated too!  But 2 days?!  You need to conjure up some patience!  I bought a 90 count bottle and promised myself that I would at least finish the bottle before I decide to either give up or stick with it.  I only lost 2 lbs my 1st week and 1 the 2nd week.  However, my theory is that I would probably continue to GAIN if I wasn't doing this plan.  So, I am think that the 3 I've lost are really worth a minimum of 5.  Stick with it for at least a month I say.

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Jane, you have no real cause to be frustrated either.  The average weigh loss on Alli is 1-2 lbs per week, so you are doing as well as can be expected.  Many people read the material and check out the web site, and they must read that the average weight loss will be 1-2 lbs per week.  Then when this happens they get frustrated and discouraged.  Too many people compare themselves to the very few who lose several lbs per week.  This is usually water weight, and their weight loss soon levels off.  If you're losing a steady 1-2 lbs per week you will reach your goal, although not as quickly as you'd like.  We would all love to be instantly thin but that ain't gonna happen.  Be happy that the weight is coming off slowly and steadily because studies have proven that this is the best way to lose weight and keep it off.  Also, your skin has a chance to shrink along with the weight loss.  If you lose weight too fast you will often end up with loose skin.  You're actually doing fine.

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Not to sound rude, but did you think you would drop 8 dress sizes in 2 days?

First: Stop weighing yourself everyday. You will only frustrate yourself. My bf keeps my scale locked in his car for a week until Sunday when I am suppose to weigh in. He doesn't fall for the lip and puppy eyes anymore so he is very strict with it. Seriously, find something to do instead of weighing yourself everyday.

Second: You should at least finish the bottle.

Third: Please please read everything GSK and Betty have posted. They make it very clear this is not a miracle pill that will turn you into a supermodel overnight. If you start the program thinking you can do what you want and lose weight, you are going to fail.

Last: Just look around the message boards! There are tons of people losing weight everyday!

We all understand you want things quick, but you have to work for what you want. Nothing in life comes easy unless your are rich and can get anything you want. Good luck and I hope you give it a month!

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

If you follow the Alli Plan, you should be seeing better results.

It's very important to reach your calorie and fat goals in order for Alli to work for you.

Make sure you weigh and measure all your foods and beverages and keep a log. You may be going over on your calories and/or fats.

    Blazer:

Been there, done that.  We all have experienced that while on a diet.  The Alli works.  Move your scale from the bathroom to under the bed.  Take it out once a week.  We women are obsessed with the numbers.  I have weighed myself every morning for at least 20-30 years.  It even feels better not to do this. Remember one failed meal, or one failed day isn't enough to ruin the whole week.  Jump right back into the game!  You didn't blow it.  Keep in touch here!

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

I keep seeing posts like this.  I don't mean to sound harsh, but what did you really expect after only two days?  I don't even think a week is long enough to give alli a fair chance.  Heck, I've been on alli for a month with absolutely no weight loss, and I'm still trying.  I see a lot of positive posts from people who have lost weight on alli alone, and that's enough to keep me going.  Hang in there.... give it a month before you expect to see some real results.  The average and safe amount of loss is around 1-2 lbs a week, so don't be discouraged if you don't lose more than that.  Go pick up a lb of ground beef and see what 1-2 pounds really is.

A week?????? Blazer, you need to give yourself at least, bare minimum, of 30 days! Do NOT expect miracles! Do NOT expect to drop 20 pounds in a week like they do on Biggest Looser! It takes at least 30 days to form a habit, which is what your new lifestyle should be. By giving yourself only 2 days or a week, your cutting yourself short and doing yourself a huge disservice! Please stick with the program until you finish the first bottle and then make a decision from there!

I've been on the program for 13 weeks and have dropped 19 pounds with Alli, for a total of 21 pounds since the beginning of February. It takes TIME, DEVOTION, and a willingness to stick with this and do this for you!

I hope that you have tood luck this week and hopefully you'll begin to see that 1-2 pound/week drop! Wishing you the best!

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Honey don't give up yet.  I've had to start over again from the beginning because I lost faith in myself.  The money alone on the pills is enough to make me determined to give it my best shot.  My biggest problem is getting throgh the cravings for all the foods I love and can't just eat one of, but I'm gving it another shot and you should too.  I just bought a new supply of the pill so I really have alot invested.  The scale to me is a sabatuer.  It discourages me even if I know my clothes fit better or I feel better.  If I haven't lost weight then I'm ready to give up.  Not losing weight doesn't mean that you haven't lost inches.  Hang in there!!
