Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

I know the feeling about failure. I once lost 120 lbs and gained it all back. I am currently at 297 lbs. I started alli at 310. I lost 8 lbs in one week. I think it works but you have to want it. It's hard because right now my weight is fluctuating. I want to results but I know it's my fault that I don't. Keep with it...

My suggestion is to put the scale away!!!!   only weigh once a week because honestly,  as you begin the program and start drinking more water you may gain water weight the first few days as your body adjusts.    I started Alli Jan 10th  to date I have lost 33 lbs.  I say YES alli works if you work at the progam!!  Its not easy it takes planning and time to prepare the meals.  Some days I have had to turn down offers to go to a movie or other activities just to make sure I get my workouts in.  But the sacrifices have been worth it.  And Alli is teaching me the correct way to eat which after 4 months its now becoming 2nd nature.  Hang in there because you deserve to be healther and happier

    Blazer:

Was wondering how that week finished out?  Are you doing better now?  I am feeling better now.  A couple of weeks have gone by, some cravings are gone, the evening eating in front of the tv habit is gone and has been replaced by 3-4 times per week of no more than 25 minutes of very moderate exercise like walking, a short bike ride or just anything to get in those extra steps. Good luck!  Sandy

Alli is just to help you. You can not just take Alli and lose weight. You have to figure out all your meals, be in your cal. and fat range Alli gives you, exercise, and really be ready to change your ways to lose the weight. I have been on Alli for 18 weeks. I weighed in today and in 18 weeks have lost 27 pounds! I changed my life in Oct when I started eating right and moving. Just by doing that I lost 19 pounds then added Alli. All together I have lost 46 pounds in 7 months. It took YEARS to put the weight on so it will take awhile to get it off. Maybe wait a week or 2 to start the pills. For the next 2 weeks work on changing your mind set. Then start the pills. They do help if you do everything your suppose to. You will have set backs we all do we are human. Give it a good try and I bet you lose!!

I agree, give it time, I see some weight lose most weeks but a few have stayed the same, then again it is usually in a week where I didn't stick with my diet and I was jus happy to see it not go up. on average I seem to be losing about 1 pound a week. It is not alot, but after a month and a half I have lost 7 pounds. So it is really working!

Mariahk - thanks for this post.  I was feeling down on myself today.  Monday's is my weight in day but I got on the stupid scale this morning.  2 lbs up from Monday.  There could be a number of reasons, I know but reading your post made me feel better!

    Thanks :)

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

i wouldnt stress if ur weight doesnt change right away, its going to take a few days

but if u keep eating less than 15 grams of fat with ur meals alli really will work for u. i know that in the first 2 weeks i lost 5 pounds but it takes more than a couple of days for ur body to get use to the changes. try to only look at the scale on ur check in day, iv noticed that throughout the week my weight fluctuates but normally around my check in day i see the results and my weight is lower.

keep with it alli really does work iv been on it 3 months now and iv lost 13pounds!! ...and i dont eat everything exactly off the web site i just check lables and make sure what im eating for a meal is less than the amount of fat im allowed. you should give alli another shot because i know if u try it will give u the results u want!! :)

I don't think 2 days is enough for anything to work.  Just keep your head up and stay strong and you will get results.

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

I am just about to start Alli too and I have been reading all of the message boards and it is very inspiring to me!!! I really just am doing this to lose 12 Lbs I have picked up since the birth of my 3rd child. He is one now so I have no more excuses!! I also use fitday.com to track what I eat and how much everything has in it. I really like that site too. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I am just so stressed because I am very very active and I watch what I eat ( of course I sneak in some treats every few days) but I am stuck at this weight!!! I am now 157 and I do hip hop abs 6 days a week now for 5 weeks and only a 3 Lb loss!!! I know you build muscle as well though so thats what I am hoping. I know hha is a good program because the first time I used it (8 weeks) I lost 10 Lbs and 13 inches. This time I am like stuck only 3 Lbs and 5 inches. I just feel very impatient lately and I just want my body back!!! My goal is 145!!!

That is why I want to try this Alli and hope with all of my effort this will help to take away these love handles!!! I Have NO love for them anymore LOL!!!

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Sounds like you're more afraid of success that failure. You bought the pills and all you have to do is take them and eat a little better. 2 days? You have to take it one day at a time. Do your best for today and don't sabotage tomorrow by giving up today. Go to bed each night feeling good about the choices you made TODAY. Don't regret yesterday, don't stress about tomorrow. It's all about the moment right now. Your body does not have the ability to correct in 2 days what took years to do. You have to figure out what's going on inside or else you'll never fix your physical appearance.

Re: help!!!! Failed again! Gave up too quick! Does alli work???

Blazer, I know EXACTLY how you feel.  I am extrememly impatient when it comes to pretty much everything, especially weight-loss.  I started back in December, then went off it for a few months because I was away at school and gave into the temptations of the fatty easily available food in the cafeteria there.  Now, I'm home for the summer and starting the alli plan again, but my first week didn't go so well.  Like you, I wanted to see results fast, and when I couldn't see a difference after even 2 days, I drown my sorrow with food as well.  Normally, this setback would upset me so much that I would give up for a while, but I am determined to make this time different.  I gained a pound my first week, but I am not going to let that hold me back!

I have figured out a few things to help me stay on track.  First, I write in the online journal everyday and I am completely honest, even if I mess up.  I record my accomplishments and setbacks each day as well as how I felt.  Doing this really helps me recognize why I cheat on my diet or excercise plan in which case I can change that habbit.  Second, I have really gotten into cooking lately, now that I'm home.  I live with my parents and younger brother, and they love it!  They're very health-conscious people, so they love when I cook new and interesting healthy meals for the family, which makes me feel better about myself.  Lastly, instead of working out just to lose weight, I have been focusing on the other benefits of excercise like getting myself back in shape.

I hope some of this stuff helps you too!  Remember just keep going with the plan even if you mess up!  Setbacks are always going to happen, it's how you respond to them that makes all the difference!
