    First weigh in...DOWN 8 pounds!!!!

WOW!!  I have to say that I am so happy!  I bought Alli about two months ago and just this last week decided to really give it a try.  I lost 8 pounds my first week. What a confidence booster.  To know that I CAN do this.  I feel great!  Although I have not started any excersize...that is where my big down fall is.... I have no energy to even think of excersize.... Just thinking about it makes me tired.  I hope that I can keep up the hard work and continue to loose more, over the next week..... stay tuned.  I also did not have any TE's.  I stuck with my suggested calorie and fat intake.

That's great.  I hope you are able to add exercise to your lifestyle change soon.  Actually, as odd as it may sound, the exercise will boost your energy, not further deplete it.  Start out slowly and build it up until you're exercising regularly.  You do want to tone your body as you lose the weight.  Plus the physical and mental benefits of exercise are too numerous to pass up.  Let us know how you're doing.

Re: First weigh in...DOWN 8 pounds!!!!

Do you have someone you can walk with? Even your mom or a sibling. I've been working out regularly on my own and just brought the alli pills last week after hitting a low point in energy and only working out twice in two weeks. Now I've brought my sister on board and finally convinced my mom to walk with us as well. My sister just had a baby a few months ago so her motivation to start exercising is really pushing me to continue to exercise.

We started just picking one place to walk to and coming back. It gives us a chance to talk and catch up and before you know it, we've finished the loop and are back at my place stretching and doing abs workouts!

If you have cable, you can find workouts on Comcast On Demand for free. Otherwise, I would say grab a friend or some music and just head out one day. You don't have to even push yourself hard, just start out walking anywhere for 10 minutes and then turn around and walk back. It's a great de-stresser and calming. And you'll have more energy and motivation to keep going.

Re: First weigh in...DOWN 8 pounds!!!!

    Hi Greeneyes79,

Congratulations on your success! The best thing about weight loss is that you don't need to change everything all at once in order to lose weight. Many people find it easier to focus on their diet first. You can lose weight and then it will be easier to move and it also won't be so overwhelming. Each pound that you lose takes 4 lbs of pressure off of your joints so it's definitely easier to move once you've lost weight.

Keep focusing on your diet and add the exercise when you are ready,

    Hi greeneyes79,

I was reading over the posts and noticed you sound a whole lot like me.  I too bought alli about two months ago and just now started.  I also have a hard time finding the energy to exercise.  It seems I am tired alot.  That is great that you have lost 8 pounds already!  I hope to be saying that soon! :-)

How have you done since your last post?

Re: First weigh in...DOWN 8 pounds!!!!

From experience, I can tell you that the exercise issue will get easier.

I work in a pharmacy, and I'm literally on my feet for 8-9 hours with only a 30 min. break. I've always used that as an excuse to get out of exercising.

But I realize that exercise is the key to becoming healthier, so I forced myself to do some walking. That's really all it takes. Start out light, but you may just have to force yourself to do it. I started by designating half my lunch break for eating, the other half for walking the length of the strip mall and back. The first week was the toughest part as I didn't feel like walking, but I made myself do it, and now I actually enjoy it. And when they say that exercising regularly gives you more energy, it really is true. I walked 2 miles over the weekend, and it wasn't a chore! :)

Plus a great motivator is just the knowledge that I'm doing something to improve my health.
