If you would like to treate yourself to a high fat meal-

    Okay,

I was wondering, I would like to treat myself to a high fat meal once a week so I don't loose my mind:)

When do I need to stop taking the pill in order to ensure there will not be any severe TE's??

Skip pill for one day? Two days? more or less

I guess I am wondering how long does it stay in your system??

    Thanks

I'm very interested in seeing an answer for this one.  On Biggest Loser the contestants were allowed one cheat meal after their weigh in in order to, in trainer Bob's words, "shock their systems."

Re: If you would like to treat yourself to a high fat meal-

You are not alone, many alli consumers have asked this question before.  You may do a quick search in this forum to find previous discussions.

If you want to "treat yourself to a fatty meal" you will need to stop the pill 2 to 3 days before, especially if you have a slow digestive system.  Read below to know how long alli remains in your system:

The half life of the drug is 1-2 hours.  Since everyone has different GI transit times, I think the drug can actually remain in your system for up to 48-72 hours mainly because gastric emptying time is so variable from person to person.

In the other hand, I will encourage you to treat yourself with something less fattening, specially while you are trying to lose weight.  How about a massage, a pedicure or manicure, a new outfit, a vacation, a new hair cut, etc.  I think you will feel much better :)

    Hope this helps,

Re: If you would like to treat yourself to a high fat meal-

But you know what?  As good as I am at not eating the food my kids eat, the smell of what they're eating is so good that I wish I could take a bite or finish what they left off instead of throwing it in the garbage.  Just yesterday, one of my kids asked for Pizza, so I had a slice of frozen types, it's the one on a French bread...OMG, it came out smelling so good and crisp and yummy, I couldn't help it and took a small bite.  I don't know about an entire meal, I would probably feel guilty and besides, I don't know if my stomach can handle it...another thing my husband said that made sense, "...if you don't want to go back wearing those big sizes, then don't..."

Is it worth stopping the pills for 2-3 days just for one unhealthy meal?  I don't watch TV, but I think the contestants on the Biggest Looser show are monitered.  I'm curious to know if they show those contestants eating those meals and if they show how they feel about it after???

Arpy - Very good point. What's the point of blowing it big time if you're going to feel like crap afterward.

Re: If you would like to treate yourself to a high fat meal-

Without even realizing it I ate something with a fat content that was way too high, and for the first time since starting Alli (in January) I had TE's.  It wasn't as bad as I pictured them being, and by the time they ran through me I ended up with a large weight loss at the end the week.  I now never think about skipping a pill because if I do have TE's it will remind me to be more aware of what I am eating, and without taking one I would most likely not just cheat but eat way more than any person should.
