In order for Alli to work for you you have to be committed to the program. You have to mentally prepare yourself. You have to want to be healthier and more self confident more than you want to cling to the old habits that are so hard to give up. We have had these bad habits for many years and it is going to be hard to make the changes we need to make. You are worth the sacrifices you are going to make. Your health and happiness are much more fulfilling rewards than the temporary pleasure you get from eating unhealthy foods. And then the guilt and self loathing sets in as additional punishment. You need to believe in yourself. You need to believe that you can do this. You purchased the pills, which are not cheap, so I know you want to succeed. If you need support and motivation visit the message boards often, read them for information and support, and post so others will know how best to help you.
Stop making excuses not to exercise. Exercise will actually help curb your cravings and will give you more energy. I had to make myself initiate the exercise part of the program, but I can tell you that it is well worth every minute you put into it. Now, if you can't handle adjusting to the healthy eating and the exercise both at the same time, begin with eating healthy. Get rid of the junk in your house and stock up on healthy food. There are so many delicious low cal/low fat foods available today that there is no reason to feel deprived. If you like ice cream, for instance, Weight Watcher's makes absolutely wonderful fudge bars and ice cream sandwiches. They have lots of other treats that I have not tried. Supermarkets now stock aisles full of healthy snacks that you can choose from. Until you get a good handle on eating healthy, plan ahead of time what you're going to eat each day. When the cravings hit the best way to handle them is to get busy. Do something. Do anything. Just get active to take your mind off of eating. If you are truly hungry a low cal snack like a piece of fruit will satisfy you. If all you can think about is Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby ice cream, that is an emotional craving and not true hunger.
Now, you need to stop belittling yourself. You're human. This is hard. But you can do it. Stop telling yourself that you can't. You're not weak. You are just having a hard time making the changes in your life that you must make in order to lose the weight and become healthy. Not many people have an easy time of it from the word go. If you will read the message boards you will discover than many people have to start over...some more than once...before they are successful at making these lifestyle changes. Remember, too, that everybody slips up now and then. Everybody. Forget yesterday. Forget what you ate at lunch. You can't change that now. What you can do is be in control of what you eat for the rest of the day. You have to do this in baby steps. One day at a time...or even one meal at a time...that is how I have to manage it. There are numerous people here who will be glad to help you and give you all the support you need. Don't get discouraged. Don't give up. Let me know how you do tomorrow.
