    TE - Orange oil overwhealming

So I've been well within my fat gram goals for the past two weeks while I've been on alli, but tonight I'm pretty sure I experienced a nasty side effect.  I felt quesy, went to the bathroom and found out that I was saturated in the orange oil.  I forgot my pill  most of today, so I only took it at dinner -  13 g of fat, frozen organic meal - then, 2.5 hours later, 20 min before I had this problem, I ate a bowl of air popped popcorn covered in fake, spray-on butter.

I've also had a glass of whiskey and water this evening, so what on earth could cause this violent, bathing-suit-destroying TE???

Help! First time dealing with this and the volume is definately not something that could be contained with a feminine product and I HAVE to  go to work tomorrow!!

    Hi Fitbethlin,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a problem. A treatment effect can occur 24 to 72 hours after consuming excess fat. Take a look at your food diary from 1 to 3 days ago. Was there anything that you ate that could have had more fat than what you counted? Did you eat out or eat something that someone else made? The effect will stop once all of the oil has been excreted. You can wear a pantiliner if you are still experiencing anything.

Let me know what you find in your food records,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

Re: TE - Orange oil overwhealming

This became a problem for me as well.  I hardly experienced any treatment effects when I first started the program, but it seemed that they became more frequent and more noticeable after several weeks of taking the pill.  One morning, I woke up to take a shower, and was horrified to see that I had leaked oranage oil during my sleep.  I stopped taking it altogether this week because I have a cardiac stress test to do (running on a treadmill for 30 minutes), and was too afraid of a TE.  I've been on alli for several weeks now 4 or 5... 6, and have lost all of about a whole pound.  :(

Any chance the staining from such seepage can come out of clothing?  I have some staining like mentioned above and hate that a suit of mine might be ruined!

I have read on other posts that Dawn dish liquid will take out the orange stains.  I can't verify this because I had already washed my stained underwear before I read this tip and the stain had set in.

Oxy works really well also.  Trust me!!! LOL.  It is pretty gross huh. Keep it up though.  I have been on Alli for two weeks and have lost 12 pounds.

I couldn't say FOR SURE, but my personal experience is that on Alli when I drink alcohol maybe it relaxes the bowels more or something, but even staying in my fat allotment I'll get looser stools & oil if I drink.
