    Re: Not enough fat

I don't think I understood about the fat intake I am suppose to have 19g per meal which means I am allowed 54 in total is this correct? I am eating far less than that is that bad or good? I am on an 1800 cal per day..and probably having about 13g of fat per day in total should I eat more fat?

    Re: Not enough fat

From what I understand from reading the Alli Plan book, if you are consuming low amounts of fat already, then this plan is not for you. It can help rid of some fat but if you are not eating any fat or just a gram or two then the pill is not doing you any good. It only works in your digestive system and only rids of fat.  You should not increase your fat intake just to have the pill absorb it. That would be silly. If you are going to eat a meal with a bit more fat then that would be the time to use the pill.

    Re: Not enough fat

Let me try to help you understand how alli works.  The alli program stresses the importance of a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet in conjunction with alli.  With that said, the recommended target calories and fat can be slightly lower or slightly higher than 15 grams of fat per meal (it can vary from person to person).  Because alli works by blocking 25% of the fat you consume with a meal, if you consume a fat-free meal or a very low fat meal (less than 5 grams per meal), then alli will not work for you.  I will encourage you to log your daily food intake and to review the alli Calorie and Fat Counter.  Many common foods have their own natural fat, which needs to be accounted toward your daily calorie and fat allotment .

Here is how to take alli:

alli’s mealtime dosing schedule (one hour before, during, or one hour after a meal) makes it easy to remember. To help you remember, we recommend making alli a part of your pre-meal routine. Once alli and the routine have been paired several times, the association will become automatic.  However, if a dose is missed, alli can be taken up to one hour after a meal and still be effective.  The alli Shuttle carrying case is provided with the starter kit to enhance compliance and serve as a helpful reminder take alli with your meals.

    Hope this helps!

    Re: Not enough fat

I think the basis of alli is that we want to change our eating style, not diet all of our lives. A very low fat diet is not healthy, either is very low carb, and certainly not for long term. So we should eat healthy fats (good for our hearts and brains!) but as we are trying to lose weight lets let alli flush some of them away. I say eat around your target- but then I'm not the dietician...

    Re: Not enough fat

    Hello  Sylvia,

I just started Alli on 06/25, No changes in my bowels yet because I am eating a low calorie low fat diet and excercising reguarly. My questions are: If you don't eat your total number of fat grams per meal will Alli help get rid of your stored fat, thus leading to weight loss? Because I am having a hard time eating 14 fat gram per meal, am I wasting my Alli?  Will Alli still work if I only take it when I know I will be eating a fatty meal such as dining out? Please help , Thanks  J :)

P.S. I have lost 3.5 pounds, only 18 lbs left to go but to keep if off is another prroblem
