Alli is just what I needed.

When I was seeing my doctor for a check up he took a little time to show me my chart, and how my weight had risen steadily for over ten years.  He told me that I was obese and facing a future laden with health problems if I didn't make a change.  He asked if I could start out by just not gaining any more before my next visit.  I was really mad at first.  I knew I was fat, but nobody said it to my face.  "What a Jerk!" I thought on my way home.  I wasn't there to talk about my weight.  What in the world made him bring it up?!  I fumed and whined to myself all the way home.  When I got there I walked into my room to put my purse away, as I passed the full length mirror... I saw Me.  I stopped and looked at myself  my whole self. 5'5" 269 lbs wow... Maybe he had a point.  This BIG woman, I don't know her.  In my minds eye I still looked like I did at 25.  I didn't want to get diabetes.  I already had to take high blood pressure pills.  That day I decided I was going to make a change in my life.  I bought a treadmill and started walking. Oh my God! It was so hard just a short slow walk killed me.  Even though it seemed like torture in the beginning I just kept doing it.  Then on my next check up, the dreaded scale.  To my suprise I'd lost 7 lbs! I couldn't see it, but it was encouragement enough to keep me going.  That was about eleven months ago.  My wieghtloss continued slowly but surely till for the first six or seven months.  Then nothing.  No matter how long I worked out I couldn't loose even one more pound.  I got discouraged, I even gained some back.  I'd seen Alli in the store, but after reading about the possible treatment effects I laughed and told the friend I was with "I'd rather be fat!"  A few weeks later, failing miserably on my own, I rethought that statement. Would I really rather be fat? NO! I wanted to be healthy, and maybe I needed some help.  I bought the bottle.  It's been five weeks and three days since I began taking Alli.  I've lost 13 lbs!  I'm back on track and feeling better that ever.  Alli keeps me from making unhealthy choices.  When my friends order cheese sticks with ranch dip, I don't even consider putting one in my mouth.  I've come to think of it a my defender.  It saves my from fatty unhealthy foods and even from myself.  The website, receipes, steps, are all helping me reach my goals & have the life I want.  I'm going to stick with this plan.  I know I'll have the tools I need to get me to where I want to be.  So, thanks Alli!  And thanks to all of you who post.  I really enoy reading how people are doing, through good times and bad.

Re: Alli is just what I needed.

Your story is really inspiring because most do go through that ordeal.  I have been researching Alli and really want to do it, but I am scared of the effects (especially if I am at work).  I have gained about 50 lbs in 7 years and really feel bad about myself.  The thing about it is that I don't like fried foods and love to eat healthy, so I don't know how this happened.  I know in my mind, but don't want to accept it.  I know my main problem is the exercising, so I joined a Spa, but really don't have the support of anyone and feel alone.  The dumb thing is that I am paying on this gym every month, but don't go.  Let me ask you something, if I eat healthy and exercise, with Alli will I for sure do well?  I just don't want to do this for nothing.  I hope to hear from you and your success, maybe this will keep me going.  It is nice to know there is support.  I also have a family reunion in September and hope to lose some weight :-)

Re: Alli is just what I needed.

    Hi,

Thanks for the note.  I know exactly how you feel :o(  I wanted more exercise so I recently (8 days ago) joined Curves.  I'm to embarassed to go to a gym full of skinny girls and muscle boys.  I was nervous about going in alone and none of my friends wanted to join me.  I just made myself walk through the door, and I'm glad I did.  I found a new group of women all working towards better health who are supportive and fun.

I really believe that if you take Alli, join My Alli Plan, follow the calorie & fat guidlines, you'd begin to loose weight, even with very little exercise.  Exercise will speed the process and help you feel better, but just get started and allow yourself to enjoy the small success.  It will make you want to do better.  I'm starting to not hate my scale and that's an awesome feeling.

I'm sure you could be well on you way to your goal by September.

I'm getting married in July.  I kind of wish it was July of next year so I could be even smaller, but this man has already waited two years for me to say yes.  He never once said a negative thing about my weight, but has become my champion supporter since I decided to change.

I hope you give it a chance!

I'd love to hear how it goes.

Re: Alli is just what I needed.

    Hey Kim,

Great to hear from you and congratulations.  I am married too and my husband loves me just the way I am, but I tell him is not him, put personal.  He is backing me up 100% and encourages me in what ever I decide.  Glad to hear that your man is the same way (makes a big difference)!  Today I bought the starter kit of 90 capsules and hope to start on this Monday.  I have read many stories here and am very please with all of the results from everyone. All are very inspiring and encouraging, and this makes it more easier to proceed.  Can you give me an idea what you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner?  I would really appreciate it.  Hope to keep talking with you, which really helps to speak with someone who is doing the Alli too.  It is so nice to have a support group to talk to and ask questions if needed.

Re: Alli is just what I needed.

    Hey Sandra,

I'm exited about you starting!  I hope you find it as helpful and rewarding as I have.  I get a lot of my meal ideas from the website. They have a great menu planner and the recipes are pretty good some times I change a few thing to suit my own tastes but it lets you plan your meals and generate a shopping list to make things easy.  I like the breakfast burrito but since I don't like bell pepper I substitute broccoli.

  • 1/4 bell pepper, green, medium
  • 2 tablespoons green onion, chopped
  • 1/2 garlic clove
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
  • 1/3 cup liquid-egg substitute
  • 1 teaspoon cilantro, fresh
  • 2 small whole wheat tortillas, about 70 calories each
  • 2 dry tablespoons salsa
  • 1 ounce cheddar cheese, low-fat
  • 1/8 dry teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 dry cup fresh grapes (any color)

    Preparation
  • Wash bell pepper, onion and garlic; chop bell pepper and onion, and mince garlic.
  • Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat and sauté vegetables until tender.
  • Add egg substitute and cilantro (chopped) to skillet and continue to cook, stirring, until egg is set.
  • Remove from heat and place 1/2 of the cooked egg mixture down the center of each warmed tortilla; top each with half of the salsa, cheese, and black pepper, to taste.
  • Roll up tortillas and enjoy with fresh grapes (washed).
  • If you look in the books that come with the starter kit you can use the registration # to join My Alli Plan and create a menu that you'll like.

Let me know how you're doing.  I am really happy for you.

    Kim
