    Vegetarian Meal Options

    Hi Everyone!

I'm not sure if the question has been presented to the group, but what recommendations do you have for vegetarians?

The auto-generated meal plan has meals with meat in them, and maybe you've found some creative substitutes.

     Thanks for your help.

    Re: Vegetarian Meal Options

Hi, I'm a newbie here too, been on Alli for 3 days. I have been an ovo-lacto vegetarian for 17 years. You can go under Food Preferences and select Vegetarian (eggs, dairy and no fish) and the menu plans get rid of the meat. I had to find this through trial and error since my meal plan had all that horrid meat in it. Actually the vegetarian recipes sound pretty good. Best of luck on your journey.

    Re: Vegetarian Meal Options

wow i've been on this plan since july and believe me, this is a new option! thanks for the tip.

i've been making my own meal plans, and i think i'll continue to do so since i tend to substitute soy milk and things like morning star farms chik strips on salad or other meat substitues to get my protein up. I try to have double the amount of protein to fat per meal so i feel really full and don't rely on carbs the way i used to.

but i do like some of the recipes I'm seeing in the mealplans now that i've switched preferences and i'll definitely be trying some of them.

    thanks again

    Sounds good, Smithy!

And it seems like you've figured out how to keep happy on this plan w/ the meat subs.  I don't sweat carb counts - feel great w/ beans or starches being main protein sources (and they're ok in terms of fat!) but have a real soft spot for the fake bratwursts and italian sausage.....yummo!

     Great seeing your post!

    Re: Vegetarian Meal Options

    Brilliant, Reepicheep!

I reset to reflect meal preferences..... can't choose vegan, BUT when the new vegetarian menus showed up, one can go to substitute and choose either a vegan meal or figure out something one could use with those alternative "eggs" & "dairy" products

     Thanks for the hint, Reepicheep!

    Re: Vegetarian Meal Options

Thank you for the recommendations!  I've been more creative in the kitchen as well.  I find that I love adding sauteed mushrooms and "baby" veggies to anything!  This has allowed me to be more imaginative and my meals are more satisfying.

I got tired of eating processed/packaged food and I enjoy cooking for myself; plus it's more economical.

     Have  a great Thursday!
