    Hello Gals:

I'm not African-American but I wanted to say hello and wish you all well with your lifestyle change.  Besides, we all have a lot in common and we all have something to offer.  I have the same hope as you, to become healthier, thinner, and more self confident.   I also post on the 80+ board, which is awesome.  You can't leave that board without feeling uplifted and motivated.  Together we can do this.

I have been trying to eat healthy for a while now...and I started the pills Friday (6/20)

SO hopefully this will work for me. I also started working out again.  So if I can keep up my determination/motivation....I should be fine.

Re: African American woman here, starting again

    Welcome ceejai, and hi everyone.

This week I lost 4 pounds and I'm really trying to stay focus and watching what I eat.  I've been really stress this week.  My husband's job is transfering in to San Antonio, TX and we live in the Chicago area.  I'm really close to my family and to move that far away is just so hard for me to process.  I've move away from family before, but the farest has been 3 to 6 hours (by car)away not 2 days maybe 3.  I know I can get on a plane but you can't get on a plan every other weekend, I'm not Oprah.  I do have a good feeling about the move, its just the thing about family and friends.  I'm very close to my mom and we hang out 2 to 3 times a week.

I notice that by the end of this week I was eating more salty foods (mostly sunflower seeds), and thing with salt I was eating it.  I had got to the point where I wasn't eating any salt.  I lost and I couldn't believe it.

Walking has help this week, not just for fitness but it help clear my mind.

I hope that everyone has a great coming week.

    Military Woman

Hi Sophia  I am a 32 y/o blk woman already in the military.I have been in the Army for a little over 4 yrs. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, which means counting calories are almost obsolete for me.I just read and se what I acan have and just have a decent portion. When I have my meals I just have the cooks recommend what I eat. I have my first check in on Fri. I have been doing cardio everyday and abs. I do the Elliptical on aerobics mode for 45 min. I do about 3 reps of 5 different ab exercises. When I began my low fat diet I was at 181.I can't wait until Fri to see if I lost any. I was also considering taking Hrdroxycut Max for women along with Alli. I want to make sure it's okay before I do though. It seems all the females here are taking that. Anyway I hope that we can all achieve our goals. My goal is to weigh 160. My husband who is also deployed here in Afghanistan and I are going to Puerta Vallarta in Oct. So I want to be toned up and ready to wear a bathing suit.LOL So let's encourage one another and share as many tips and ideas as we can.

    Re: Military Woman

    Hello Mrs. Chevy,

Wow, I definitely commend you and respect what you are doing over there.  How long have you been there?  Are you and your husband always able to be stationed together?  Let me know how your weigh in went on Friday when you get the chance.

Also, about this Hydroxycut...is that safe to do both?  Did you find out?  I would be willing to try it for a month if it will get this weight off of me at least in time to meet requirements (180 or 185) depending on if they measure me at 5' 8" or 5' 9" and then go back to getting the weight off the healthy way.  However, I am a bit scared of Hydroxycut and side effects.  Did you hear anything back about that?

    Re: Military Woman

Hey ladies, here is what I found on the ask the pharmacist thread.  Someone asked if it was okay to use alli & Hydroxycut.  I hope this helps. Toni

Hello. As a pharmacist, I do not recommend products such as Hydroxycut. It is not FDA-approved, promotes an unhealthy approach to weight loss (quick and "eat whatever you want") and contains stimulnats that can cause rapid heart rate and jitteriness. While there are no dangerous interactions between alli and Hydroxycut, I do not recommend using them toegther. The alli plan is all you you should need for healthy weight loss!

    Best of health!
