Oh the wonders of Quark! I have just discovered this delightful Non Fat stuff.  I can use it for everything from dips for veggies to mixing it with water packed tuna!  YUM! 

1/2 cup is:

13 g Protein

4 g Carbs

and NO Fat!

 Perfect.

Anyone know any recipes they use Quark in??

Ive never heard of Quark before. I live in Southern California, but maybe im just out of the loop.

LOL! It is a funky name..but it's refrigerated..in the dairy section with the Sour Cream etc.

It IS made here in Ferndale Washington..so perhaps it's not distributed down there.  Sorry

I so do love it because I can make all the things that full fat stuff has in it like Dips, Tuna Salad,

etc.  Heck it even tastes good on toast instead of butter. weird I know but good.

It's a type of cheese and comes in regular, low fat and fat free varieties. Trouble is , it's only made in a few places and therefor not widely available. I live in Mississippi and don't think I can get it here unless I order it online from a distributor on the east coast.

So basically it says on the lid: Substitute Appel Farms Quark into recipes calling for Ricotta, Cottage Cheese, homemade Yogurt cheese, Sour Cream, or Cream Cheese...it is verstile in both sweet and savory recipes, ie cheesecakes, desserts, dips, bagels, spread, lasagnas, garnish for baked potatoes etc!

All of the above I have tried in one way or another except lasagna and cheesecake.

The best way to describe the texture anbd flavor is Ricotta but slightly saltier.  It has a pretty decet shelf life as well making it as user friendly as sour cream and Mayo.
