    Re: Starting week three

    Hi everyone,

I just starting getting involved in the Alli messageboards and i was inspired by your chat.  I am 18 and I started on the Alli diet 1 week ago and I started taking the pills on Thursday.  I currently weigh about 172 and I am 5 4.  I have been struggling with my weight since a fairly young age.  The past three years have been extremely stressful and through 2005 and 2006 I gained about 20 pounds, this past year I managed to stay stagnant.  I finally became sick of the way I look and was ready for a change.  I am going to college in the fall and I don't want to feel this way any more.  I was psyched and ready to start the program.  Even though my first official weigh in isnt until next Saturday I decided to get on the scale this past Saturday.  What a mistake! I hadn't lost a single pound while I was sure I had made some progress.  Do you think this was because I had only been dieting for a week and on Alli for 2 days?  I am worried that I will never see results.  I have never tried a diet before so I am unsure about what to expect and I know longer feel as excited.  Does anyone have some advice?

    Thanks, Maria

    Re: Starting week three

Maria, stay away from the scale!  It will only make you want to pull your hair out..lol.  I wouldn't weigh but once a week.  Also, as long as your really ready to commit and lose the weight don't ever give up on yourself and you will see results.  Everyone is different.  I only lost 6 lbs my first month on Alli......but that is 6lbs that is GONE!!!  Some weeks I didn't see a loss but I never gained.  It wasn't until after I stopped taking Alli that I gained 4lbs (which is exactly why I bought more)!  Just make sure you get the recommended calories/fat, drink your water, and get some exercise and you WILL see results.  Good luck to you!!

Donna, like I told Maria...you have to have the determination to want to lose the weight.  Alli is not a magic pill, you can not take it and eat like you do and drink no water and not exercise and expect to see results.  Alli is a diet aide.  If your willing to change your eating habits, drink 8+ glasses of water daily, and get some exercise you WILL see results!

Now, GARY....I'm waiting to hear all about your weigh-in!! :)

    Re: Starting week three

Big donut this week but weight has shifted and loose clothes and shirts as well as belt on first hole now so plateau/settlement has occurred, I am ok with it but am taking fat grams down to 15 vs 19 and will shoot for only 25-28 grams per day vs 60.

I also started swim/walking so I think I know whats going on...I am motivated as usual no loss of confidence here!

Tell me how yours goes ROXXIE....

    Re: Starting week three

Gary, and Roxxie  Thanks for the encouragement.  I think I like this program.  And best of all I know I can do it.  Accountability is an amazing thing.  I don't get to get on line all that often because of my busy schedule but I enjoy reading your chat with Roxxie. I am encourged to read the "chats" they help me to be realistic.  I don't feel so alone in this but yet I know to some point only I can do this.  My eatting this week went great. Preparing the food made all the difference.  I tend to drink a good amount of water when I am at work but the weekend ...not so easy.  I have been helping some friends babysit a little man due to a hospital family emergency and I actually "packed" my lunch. I hadn't done that since Jr. High.  My friend wasn't able to weigh me in due to the emergency so I opted to wait until this Thursday. I have many a mile to go but I can only go one mile at a time. I know I have lost. I feel thinner. And my walks have helped although I have yet to be consistant. I want to add more exercise but I am afraid I will over do it so I am sticking with the same as last week my 3 mile walk.  I hope the two of you are doing well. I don't know how to find you so I can add you as friends. I still don't have this figured out. It took me forever to figure out how to respond. Keep up the good work and know that it encourages others like ME! And thanks for being real.

    Re: Starting week three

We are always here! place us into your Alli Circle of friends...we are also under this Starting week three all the time.

Dinner Tonight was new for me but loved it. Here is what I had:

    • Non Fat Yogurt
    • Strawberries
    • Blueberries
    • Grapetape Nuts cereal

Mix it like a parfait and yum yum....no fat and low cal and lots of good carbs to hel[p the burn.

I am going to try a reverse eating plan every other day and eat dinner at breakfast and breakfast at dinner. Lunch is normally low fat protien like tuna...

And of course my 32 oz of daily water and lemon to quench the thirst and hunger.

    Re: Starting week three

OOOhhh sounds yummy Gary!  I love Grape Nuts!  If you like that meal you would probably like my breakfast :)  I had two whole grain pancakes topped with non fat vanilla yogurt, almonds, and raspberries...DELICIOUS!!

Well tomorrow is my weigh-in.  My bottle of Alli still hasn't come yet so I'm trying to do my best on my own.  It should be in the mail today.  However, I hoped on the scale to see a loss of 4lbs (that I had gained last week)...so obviously it was water weight!  Hope to see the same loss tomorrow so I can get back on track!!

    Talk to you then!

    Re: Starting week three

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY ROXXIE....good job and gettenerdone! Now you know how I am about not weighing in until it's time BUT I had a doctors appointment this morning to refill my cholesteral meds as I take it daily and what do they do when you go to a doctor...weigh you in! I told them I don't want to see it unless it's less than what I know it was on Monday!

Well...it was 2 lbs less but lets not get ahead and jump for joy as my official weigh in is next Monday but it may be a pretty good one and I broke through the PLATEAU from the last two weeks.

I have also reversed my eating as I said 3 days a week... healthy breakfast for dinner and a light dinner for breakfast.

The NONFAT Yogurt with strawberries and blueberries and grape nuts is a hit with me.

    Re: Starting week three

Roxie.... Gary....SIX POUNDS!  YES!  THANK -YOU JESUS!  Now I really am on my third week! lol. I keep waking up in the middle of the night real thirsty. So much so that it wakes me up from a dead sleep. Today for the first time I wasn't really hunger. Usually I still have that "hunger" feel even after I've eatten.  But I didn't even have the morning snack. This is Great!  I have gained more than the lost of six pounds.  I feel better about ME! You two have a great weekend and I'll check in soon.

Well, I've been just getting my strength training and swimming in this week....I did walk on the treadmill once, Wednesday, but haven't been able to get on since.  Which, is ok since I'm getting my cardio from playing water volleyball and I'm still doing my strength training circut....just going to try to get back on the treadmill more next week....However, I'm still following the plan to a "t" and taking the Alli (which finally came, yay!)!!

    Have a wonderful weekend!
