I'm doing something wrong I think

I'm so confused. I've been eating lowfat and low cal for quite a while now but am not seeing the scale move much. I've been stuck between 281 and 278 for 3 weeks now. It literally bounces back and forth from day to day. I have never had any treatment effects except for barely having bowel movements. It seems very weird to me that I barely go when I go, ya know? My doctor put me on a stool softener since starting Alli. I thought I'd have the opposite problem. What happened there? Also, whenever I drink enough water, I'm in the bathroom so much that I've become raw from wiping. (Sorry for being so blunt!) I haven't been able to really add activity in because the mixture of my massive weight and having M.S. is still to painful to do much. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do differently? I usually give up on stuff fairly quickly and I can't afford to give up on myself anymore. I really need help.

Re: I'm doing something wrong I think

Hi Hollie,  I too have MS and am losing weight because of it.  I feel so much better being 19 pounds lighter.  I have a bit more energy. Not anywhere as much as I would like, but some.  I wonder if your fat grams and calories are correct for you.  It may be time for you to drop down to the next level.  As far as exercising goes, it might be silly, but when your watching TV and a commerical comes on get up and walk in place until your program is back on.  Do it every time the commericals are on.  Start out slow and work your way up.  When it gets eaiser walk faster, or pump your arms, or add a slight bounce in your step.  Then you might try walking up and down your street.  Every little bit will help.  For your wiping problem,  keep drinking the water and try patting instesd of wiping.  I had to do this for a while.  It will get better.  I had to add Benefiber to a glass of water three times a day to help me from being stopped up.  It took a couple of days, but now it is better.  There are many fiber supplements out there.  I take the Benefiber because it is tasteless.  Some of the pills I looked at were scary.  If you didn't swallow them properly they could swell in your throat and choke you! Ah, that is why I went for powder.  Don't give up on Alli.  It really works.  I hope this helps you out Hollie.  Let me know if you want to chat.  I wouldn't mind a friend to help me out.  I have been off track for 6 weeks now.  I started back on June 10th and check in is tomorrow.  So far I am down 4 pounds. ( I gained 4 back and just lost them again.)  Good Luck!

    Rebecca

I fell off the bandwagon a gained 11 pounds.  So far I am down 3.  I want to be 120 before April 15th!

Re: I'm doing something wrong I think

Hi Rebecca, thanks for replying to me. I'd really like to chat. I too really need to have some extra support from a friend right now. I think that would make such a difference in how I feel. It looks like you don't have anymore weight to lose though! LOL... How much more do you have to go (if you don't mind my asking)? I really appreciate your input. All of the ideas sound great and I'll be trying them out this week to see if it helps. It's funny you mentioned the walking in place during commercials because yesterday morning I turned on an old Disney show called Summer Magic and I walked in place infront of the t.v. for 20 minutes. I felt all wobbly in my legs the entire day and had to take extra pain meds at night for my weird leg issues (I get those a lot). I think I went a bit too far, so I'm going to try out the commercial break thing you talked about. I bought some fiber, but I didn't get the powdered kind (too spendy for me right now). I haven't really given it a chance, but I will. I was a good girl yesterday and drank a lot of water like I'm supposed to. Guess what happened..... I had to get up to pee every hour on the hour in the middle of the night! LOL... that is so frustrating. I don't know if you've experienced the bladder issues that sometimes go along with M.S. I've had the bladder issue happening off and on for 7 years. I tried that stuff they put you on to stop you from feeling like you have to go all the time but it stopped my whole body from working right. So I am thinking, hmmmm I really need to drink more water but I don't enjoy running to the toilet every few minutes.... does that mean I need to just stock up on Depends now??? Even if I thought that was a good option, I doubt they make it in my size! Yikes ;0)  You mentioned that you got back on track on June 10th and your check in is today. How did you do??? I hope you had a successful week. Please let me know how you did and how you're feeling. Thanks again for your response and support.

    God bless ~ *Hollie*

Re: I'm doing something wrong I think

Hey Hollie,  I am glad you wrote back.  Since June 10th I have lost 4 pounds.  I was hoping for 5, but I will surly take 4.  I am sure most was water weight, but is was nice to see the numbers back down.  One more pound and I will hit 20 pounds lost on Alli!  I slacked off for those 6 weeks and I wish that I didn't.  I would almost be done.  Oh well.  I am working very hard now.  I hope the fiber helps you out.  I know how you feel about the peeing.  I am usually up twice a night, but I am now down to once.  I am lucky that my MS doesn't give me troubles in that area.  I try not to drink after 7:00.  I think it may be helping.  I hope you are doing well.  When is your check-in day?  Keep in touch and Good Luck!

Re: I'm doing something wrong I think

Hi again, good for you on keeping the scale from rising. I think that it creeps up fairly easily for me anyway. I'm excited for you that you are almost at your goal weight. That's fantastic! I've been extremely over weight since 1990. I can't wait to free myself of feeling like this for so many years. Even if I don't lose that 150+ that I'm trying for, I still plan on making my life much more healthy and sticking to that. I know that my MS would be much more bareable if my body didn't have to stuggle so much under this weight. I'm excited that I'm on my way to a healthier me. I envy your once a night situation. Maybe I can get back to that if I try to keep most of my water consumption done really earily in the day. My check in day is Monday. I picked Monday so that I would be careful over the weekend when my hubby makes his yummy breakfasts. So far I've been really good about not pigging out on them since I've started the Alli plan. Thanks again for your support Rebecca. I'm here for you anytime you need a boost or just an ear.

    Many blessings  :0)   ~*Hollie*~
