How much is too much Salt?

Anyone know how much salt is too much?  I've lost 18 pounds so far and have been walking 2 1/2 miles a day as well as staying in check with everything else but have come to a stand still in losing weight over the last 1 1/2 weeks.  I'm doing everything I should be doing but I am wondering if the food I'm eating has too much salt.

p.s. There is no board moderator on this one, so only other alli members can answer...you can even post to Betty Kovacks on the 'Personal Experiences' board as well....she is awesome and also a registered dietitan!

Re: How much is too much Salt?

    Hi BJ,

If you don't have heart problems, the max is typically 2300 mg per day.  Your doctor should have the final say.  You'll be surprised at how much salt is in many items you eat.  I was going to eat some Campbells soup until I found out it had 960mg per serving, and the container was two servings.  Watch out for those items labeled as "less salt."  The only requirement is that it have 25% less than the original.  Many times it is well over what you want to be eating still.  Hope this helps.  I got a lot of my Sodium info on Webmd.com.

    Chris
