Alli works just for a while.

    Hi every body!

This is my story. I started using Alli last June (2007) when i started my weight was 175lbs. I could lose 25 pouns in six months, i did not brake my diet and exercised very often, in other words, i followed the plan as it is recommended. I did not have any treatment effects because i tried not to exceed 15 grams of fat. My weight loss stopped when i reached the weight 150 lbs, my real goal is 135, but i think my body got used to Alli and since last January I have not lost any pound, so i decided to stop Alli and start using Hydroxycut two weeks ago and I have lost 3 pounds ever since, and I fell energetic and with no side effects. I will reach my goal finnaly!!

So my opinion is that Alli works for a period of time, an after that, it's just a waste of money, because the pills are very expensive, and I have heard from many people that Alli just does not work for every body. Let's see what happens with Hydroxycut, I think works much more effectively, of course with diet and exercise.

Re: Alli works just for a while.

    HI Viviana1017,

There is no evidence that alli stops working and definitely no evidence that any weight loss supplement does work. There is evidence that weight loss plateaus at 6 months. Some people find that adjusting their calories and/or exercise at that point helps push past the plateau. Other people need to just wait it out by sticking with their plan. Either way, as long as you still have weight to lose it will happen as long as you are in a calorie deficit. Alli helps you stay in a deficit by excreting 25% of the fat calories. People can choose how long they use it, but it's clearly not a waste for those who need it.

I wish you luck with your weight loss,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

Re: Alli works just for a while.

That could explain my plateau I just got over. I took a 1 month break from Alli and then reintroduced it, along with buying a stationary bike. I've already lost 3 lbs in the past week!

    I am at 26 weeks today...translation...6.5 months.

    Alli start 12/30/07

    SW 222 lbs - CW 164.5 lbs

    I've lost 57.5 lbs!

    I HIT NORMAL BMI 24.9 on 8/10/08!

    (I was 32.8 Obese!)

Re: Alli works just for a while.

The last 10 - 15 pounds are always the hardest to lose.  It's not Alli, its just body chemistry.  Changing up your calories every day, and increasing your workouts, to shock and keep your body guessing helps to lose those last pounds.  You dont want to go too low, to avoid going into starvation mode.  It takes time, and losing it too quickly doesnt give you a very good chance of keeping it off.  Weight training to build muscle, and cardio to burn fat will be the key to the final few.

Alli isnt a waste of money, its only a tool.  You do the work.  The same with Hydroxycut.  The difference is that Alli doesnt have the same effects on the nervous system.

    Good luck
