    Sushi

I like to go for sushi and I usually have crunchy roll or california roll - I would like to know if anyone has a calorie/fat count for items found on a sushi menu.  This is my first day on this program.  Thanks.

    Re: Sushi

Try this website- http://www.sushifaq.com/sushi-calories.htm. Or try googling (or another search engine) with sushi and calories.  Or try www.calorieking.com  It has the calories in a lot of foods.

The web site indicates that an entire roll(6-8 pieces I think) is 255 calories and 7 grams of fat for the California roll.

    Re: Sushi

I am a sushi-addict! I crave the stuff all the time. But I've noticed that, where as before I loved the rolls, they're getting to be too carb-heavy for me so I've switched to sashimi. I prefer sashimi over sushi rolls now.

    Re: Sushi

These are great suggestions.  I'd also suggest that all sushi/sashimi lovers go easy on the dipping sauce because it's made from soy sauce and is very high in sodium.  Sodium tend to hold water, and that can mask a weight loss.

    Re: Sushi

Try Bragg Liquid Aminos instead of soy sauce. It has good flavor and is good for you too, zero fat and zero calories! You can find it in health food stores, such as Mother Earth Market.

    Re: Sushi

The best why to keep track of sushi calories and such is to make it yourself! It's super easy to do... I was very intimidated by the task of rolling the sushi but it's surprisingly simple. There are videos online that will show you. We have "Sushi night" at least once a week and I even make homemade miso soup. It saves you a ton of money in the long run. A lot of the ingredients needed are found at any grocery store nowadays.

This is the final final time. I really mean it! lol
