    Re: Starting over

     Thanks,

I have been trying to measure as much as I can.  I buy a lot of pre-packaged meals/snacks as well.  Well, this was week 2 and I lost 3 more pounds.  Not great, but I will take it.  That is 7 lbs in 2 weeks.  Sadly, I have seen others who have lost 7lbs or more in one week.  I have been trying to stay at 1500 calories as opposed to the 1800 Alli recommends.  Is that why I am not losing as fast?  My thinking is that the less calories I eat, the more I will lose.  Besides, 1500 calories is about average.  When I was on Jenny Craig, they had me at 1200.  Please help!!

    Re: Starting over

     Tracy,

The average weight loss, and what is considered a good loss per week is 1-2lbs.

You don't want to lose to quickly for a number of reasons.

    1) it's not healthy

    2) your body needs time to adjust to the changes

    3) by losing slowly, you are more likely to keep it off

    4) losing slowly also allows your skin to "snap back" as opposed to having lots of saggy skin. Will you still have some saggy skin? probably, but not as much if you were to drop weight dramatically.

If you are eating a lot of pre-packaged items, keep an eye on the sodium. You don't want too much sodium in your diet - it will make you retain fluids and it's just not healthy for your body

Thanks for responding.  It is good advice.  I am trying to keep the sodium within the limits of the day, but you are right, pre packaged foods are much higher.  Thanks again!!

    Re: Starting over

Hi all!  I will be joining you in the starting over category.  :)  Seems like I have been down this road before, but I am determined to not make a detour this time.  I was doing great, starting to lose a little, and was in a fairly good exercise routine and then summer came.  I made a trip to San Diego to meet my son when he returned from deployment and then had a lot of company over the 4th. To say the least, I have been off program for nearly 2 months.  I am going to start my low fat meals today for a couple of days and restart my Alli pills on Saturday.

    Re: Starting over

     Hi bbmarinemom!

I'm a Marine mom also, glad to know your son is okay.

Like you, I had a relaspe. I started Alli on January 12 and lost 19 lbs in the first 2 months. But my life got turned upside down for the next 3 months, so now everything has settled down and I'm back with the program. I had gained back 7 of those lost pounds, but since getting back on track I was able to lose those 7 +5 more. So I'm excited about continuing and reading everyone's success stories which always keeps me motivated. Just waiting to hit that under 200 mark. I am so excited to know that I am almost there. I never thought I would be looking at the scale and seeing the 206 mark that it says right now.

Having a partner or Alli buddy is the best thing. My good friend was the one who suggested we both do this together back in January. Well a few weeks ago her and I met up for a show (this is when I was just getting back on the program and she had continued with it since January) and she looked fabulous! I didn't want to be the one that couldn't do it. The one that gave up and stayed heavy while my good friend got slim. So that motivated me even more to get back on the program and know that I could do it this time.

I also had been running since last September, and I totally stopped my exercise. So now I am running again, only on the weekends right now, but I'm hoping to get a few days in during the week.

After being away from Alli for those 3 months and coming back to the site and reading the messages from all the newcomers and 'old-timers' I felt even more sure that this was the right way to go in reaching my weight loss goal.

The very best to all of you!
