    Happy July 4 ladies!

    Well, today is my rest day so I'm not going to post any exercise.

    I did, however, lose 2 pounds and that put me under my goal weight by one pound.

    I'm just waiting for the next challenge to begin, too much fun is going to be had!

    Patti: Go you! :) Oh, and 6:30 AM?!? Wow, I can't remember the last time I was up that early! LOL Please don't get hit by any boats! Congrats by the way for the two pound loss by the way!  That's great! 

    Melissa: Congrats!  That's great that you got a call from another hospital!

    happy 4th everyone..

    i worked today

    rode bike to work and home 20 mins

    went to the gym and did the eliptical for 15 mins to warm up

    did my weight circuit to keep my arms from turning into bat wings and of course worked my legs too.. just because.. did 15 mins on matwork.. crunches, stretching ..

    finished up with a brish walk on the treadmill at  4 mph w 2%incline

    got on the scale when i was done (just because) and at the end of the day i was at 171.. which is good because i usually weigh in the am for my weigh in and it usually at the lowest  then... so to have it at 171 in the afternoon is impressive.. i wonder what i was in the morning??i am sure it was a pound or two lower.. hey... this seems to be working.. i will absolutely be excited about 1 lb a week..  my metabolism is not as great at 55 as it was when i was 35, thats for sure.. now i am off to go to a picnic with my husband at somebodys house that he works with.. i hope they have something i can eat.. keep my fingers crossed.. i do not want my first TE away from my own house.... i will let you know tomorrow how i did... so far i have only ate 700 cals and 30 fgs so i think i planned for this somewhat.. have  a happy 4th everyone!!.kathy

     Thanks everyone for welcoming me back, and Happy 4th! I wanted to post my stats and my goal for the new challenge:

    Weight: 168

    Waist: 37-1/2"

    Hips: 41-1/2"

    Thighs: 21-1/2" (I think... I was told you don't measure at the widest part at the very top, but mid thigh... which place is correct?).

    Goal: I's be happy with a SOLID 4 pounds, so 164, which would bring me back to my lowest Alli weight... I've been yoyoing the same 2 pounds for a month now...) 

    I didn't start with this thread at the beginning because I wasn't in the last challenge, so I'll wait until the new challenge starts to log daily, but I have been walking consistently (4 miles today!) and charting my calories/fat (still could be doing better with that!). 

    Good luck to everyone in the new challenge, and I'll see you all on the new thread Monday (though I'll be back over the weekend to read how well you're all doing!)

    I haven't posted for 3 days.   I just read through all the posts.  So many of you are having a weight loss ... it's wonderful and inspiring.

    I got through the worst of fiscal year-end at work.  My boss talked to me about me working too many hours.  Yeah, Duh! and I'm still not getting everything done that's expected!  There's this peer there who should be doing some of this stuff and isn't.  I guess the boss needs to talk to him about working too little!!

    Melissa - hope the job is okay ... if I remember right, you're a neo-natal nurse so your skills should be in demand.

    Lynn - Glad your hanging in there and posting periodically to let us know that you're okay.

    Sharon - Glad to see your posts once again.

    Carol Joy - I got through the dental thing on July 1 well enough.  The doc replaced a broken filling and I didn't even need a crown, so I was pretty pleased.

    I'm kind of anti-shopping.  I'm amused that several of you feel the same way. I have a friend who refers to shopping as "retail therapy" ... not for me!!  When I shop I like to know where I can buy what I need, get it and get home!  With so many stores having items online, I actually go shopping less and less all the time!

    I did a little more with weights than I usually do on 6/29 and I had some aches and pains on one side in the mid and upper back beginning the next day.  My back is messed up so this isn't that surpising.  Since the discomfort is continuing, it's more than just muscle soreness so I'm taking it easy on that kind of exercise.  I'm trying to figure out who and what kind of doctor would be helpful.  There's lots of good doctors in this area but I haven't found one that's good with the back.

    Jul 2 - didn't exercise and didn't track food.

    July 3 - 40 min elliptical and 30 min lower body strength training; did track food.

    July 4 - 55 min elliptical and 20 min low stress upper body workout.  1582/79

    I hope everyone had a happy 4th!  Let freedom ring!!

    "let freedom ring"...absolutley! I think we all forget now and then, just how lucky we are living in the USA. I've traveled to underpriveledged countries, and life is no cake-walk like it is here!

    Carol....hope you are enjoying your 4th get-away and temps aren't too hot and humid there!

    Can't wait for the 7th! We will "ROCK-IT!!"

    p.s. SOMEone asked where to measure thighs....sorry I didn't take notes from all the posts, and my tiny pea-brain can't remember everything at 7am!
    Thigh measurements: At the fullest part toward your pelvis; not the quadricep that is midway from kneecap to groin. If you look in the mirror while doing so, it is easy to see the little area before the leg tapers off into the groin area. The quad is useless to measure because there is more muscle there to begin with, and once you build muscle it is hard to know what the actual conversion was. At the very upper thigh, it tensds to carry fat.

    I hope you all have a nice weekend! Today (Sat). I am having a deep-tissue massage from 11-12!! Then to lunch with a friend, and dinner out at 7:30 ata GREAT place with hubby and the friend that has been here since last Sunday. She leaves tomorrow morning, and frankly, I'm looking forward to things returning to 'normal!'

    p.s. I feel like I have lost weight this week! I FORGOT to check-in on Wed so I will wait until next Thurs. (I'll be out-of-town on Wed for my 51 bday!) I measured my waist and it was LESS than when we started this thread!! YAY!!

    No formal excercise for 7/4. :( I worked all day then passed out when I got to the shore at night as I was running on two hours of sleep!  Went for a 35 minute power walk this morning with my mom though which was nice because I haven't seen her in a while.  She's been living here at our shore house with my younger brother.  Lucky them.  Hopefully I'll get some more excercise in later in the day.  I have friends coming down later in the day that I haven't seen since finals in May, so I am very excited to see them!  

    Carol Joy: Massage?  Lucky you!  Enjoy it!

    Have a great day everyone!  Can't wait for the challenge to start on Monday!!

    no formal exercise ....worked and walked all over for 12 hours at work it was crazy and my legs are sooooo killing me and my aching feeet.....

    7/5....worked in the yard and did a bunch of walking... being as i was over my cal/f.g yesterday.. today i was waaay under... i wasnt trying to get that serious.. it just happened  only 1080cals 37 f/g today  and too much sodium..tomorrow is another day!.........kathy

    This was my reward for the last 6 days of extreme workouts!

    How do you all like the new format on the website?? I admit I am quite uncomfortable with it thus far as it is unfamilar to me...in time I'm sure I will get use to it. It took me some time to figure out HOW to get to the message board!! A notice of change of format would of been nice!

    It appears we may be able to download our photo and bio; of course I have NO idea how to do that!

    Hope you all have a great Sunday!! I am looking forward to a lower-key week coming us as my week-long houseguest leaves today! Although she is a good friend, 8 days is TOO long for anyone to stay!

    Hi Ladies!

    No formal exercise for me on Saturday/Sunday.  Saturday was a day for cleaning house and Sunday was my travel day back to my San Diego house.

    I went to a huge fish-fry Saturday.  The only fish I ate was the tilapia because that was baked.  The other fish was fried and I don't do fried foods.

    It's c-c-c-c-cold here at the beach.  I didn't bring any pants so I'm going to be suffering in no-so-quiet silence!

    Brittany, hope you're having fun at your shore house :-)

    Yipes! Carol Joy - Whats with all this new stuff on the Alli message board?  I couldn't find this thread at first and got really nervous.  I hope I can find the new thread tomorrow.  Just being gone a few days w/o checking in and finding this new stuff on the board makes me feel a little out of the main stream.  Hope everyone had a great weekend.

    ladies.. apparently i have been slacking...i only went bike riding today for 40 mins.. no weights.. and i ate chinese for dinner... too much fat..the only fried thing i ate was 1 egg roll..  but all together between that and the fried rice and the szeschuan chicken  it said it was 37  f/g... i hope nothing bad happens..anyway tomorrow i will hit it hard again.. maybe i need to take it a bit easy now and then so i can shock by body back into weight loss mode.. holding steady at 171..maybe this challenge is just what i need.. total cals today 1220 58 f/g...i am not too sure about the new format.. we will see..   kathy
