Hi Maine,
I just read a tip a few days ago about using fat free half and half. Here's the low down from the actual labels:
LandOLakes Fat Free 1/2 1/2: 2 tbsp: 20 calories; 0 fat; 0 cholesterol; 30mg sodium, 3g carbs, 1g protien
Coffee Mate Fat Free: 2 tbsp: 20 calories, 0 fat; 0 cholesterol; 0 sodium, 4g carbs, 0 grams protien
When you look at the ingredients list, the 1/2 1/2 starts with Nonfat milk. it's got fewer carbs and at least a little protien. Balance.
The CoffeeMate starts with water and has a laundry list of chemicals I can't pronounce.
For my calorie/fat/nutrition budget, I'd rather spend the calories on the 1/2 1/2. It tastes better, has only a teensy bit of sodium in it, and can be used for more than coffee. A splash of this added to soup or your mac & cheese bake can do wonders for the taste and texture of the meal.
I haven't found the LOL fat free 1/2 1/2 in less than a quart container, so had to find uses for it besides my coffee. I really like it.
