Just bought my alli today..doing WW and exercise...

I have been on WW for three weeks, and have lost 6 lbs.  This past week or so, I started taking total body conditioning, weight training and bootcamp workout classes.  Today I picked up Alli to help me lose weight faster.

I hope it works. Will read the site and see what everyone says here.

Congratulations on the 6 pounds - that's awesome.  I'm a lifetime WW member so I can tell you it definitely works, or at least it did for my until my thyroid stopped working after my fourth baby, but that's a whole other story, LOL.  I'm hoping the alli will help me too.  Today is day #1 so I'm excited and a bit nervous. ;-)  Good luck and keep us posted!

Margaret Proud mom of four beautiful children - Matthew (14), Katie (12), Claire (4), and Dave (2). I have hypothyroidism, but hope this plan can help me lose 10 to 15 pounds, i.e. the last of the stubborn baby fat! Starting weight on 6/30/08: 149 pounds Current weight: 146.6 pounds Final goal weight: 136 pounds

Re: Just bought my alli today..doing WW and exercise...

Why would WW members be against Alli? Im on my fourth month of WW, and Im starting Alli! I need the mental boost to help me. I was stagnant for a month of not loosing or gaining a lb or a 1/2 lb. I needed help, and if Alli helps then bravo to me!

     Hey guys-

Actually started taking the pills this am....to boost my loss.  I am at 2 hrs of  cardio 3 or 4 x a week, ww with 20-22 points and Alli.  If I cant lose weight now..then there is something seriously wrong with me.  I get weighed in on Wed or Thurs..so will let you know if any improvement.  Still holding strong at 6 lbs down.

    Re: Good Job Zoe!

I am also using WW to manage my food.  Points are easier for me to manage than counting calories.  I just started taking Alli 3 days ago.  So far, so good...no side effects.  All is well...can't wait to hear if anyone else experiences quicker weight loss using Alli and WW combined.

    Re: Good Job Zoe!

WOW!! 24.4 is amazing..dont get down now!! You just need a kickstart to keep you positive. I had a great week cardio wise...more bootcamp and starting running on the treadmill too...:)  Today was the only day i had some side effects from alli...and really it was very light.  Nothing that doesnt usually happen when i eat too many veggies and fruit..lol.

I got weighed in today and lost 1.4 ..not as much as i wanted to...but enough to keep me going. My total is 7.6..or 7.4 or something so 10 isnt that far away.

Have a great weekend.. and dont give up!!!

    Saturday~

    Hello Zoe,

Well, I snuck in Weight Watchers today at noon and got on the scale. I did NOTHING this week! absolutely nothing!. Im suppose to weigh on Saturday mornings, think I can loose 3 lbs over night?????  NOT!..What did I do wrong? Maybe I didnt do enough cardio. I guess that could be it, heck I dont know. Im dissappointed. So, now when I really weigh on Saturday morning, I probably will gain!...Oh its gonna get ugly if so. I must revamp an re do something here. I have actually left WW meetings crying, and just plain down. You get in your head of a loss for the week, and you dont loose or you gain!...Talk about needing prozack!...So, I must meet some goals this week, I think. I go back to work this week for a week, so I think I will try to ride my bike three days to and from work, then walk my 2 mile walk each night. The days I cant ride, Tues and Thursday I will walk twice! Sometimes I think I dont loose cause I do to much exercise! I dont want to see muscle, I want the scale less. I will drink 8+ glasses of water, and will write absolutely everthing down...HELP MEEEEEEE!!!! I need a hand to hold this week, before it gets ugly!..Especially when I go with a partner and she looses!.....

    Re: Saturday~

Karla- I have been there! My first week i had a big loss, then nothing my second. Third week another big loss and 4th 0...goose egg, and I DID leave my ww meeting crying. Sometimes the body is in shock from us changing our habits, so it holds on...you will see a big loss your next week. Just keep writing everything down, and weighing it. When you add cardio, eat a little more.... With the alli to help us...it will come off.... I felt the same way you did last week, and just kept at it. Tomorrow I hit the gym for a class and an hour walk/run combo...all you can do is be healthy and kind to your body and it will come off... Just keep posting for support!!!I am in the same boat, and we can row together!! Zoe

    Re: Saturday~

I think I love you!... Im so glad to hear of your weeks!...Well, the gal I go to WW with, decided we were riding our bikes there today. Yeah, on the road by 6 am!..But we did it, 4 miles one way and then 4 back. But I got up late, couldnt find my WW clothes (yes, I wear the same thing every week!), so I just went. Knowing I wouldnt weigh in today. So, I stuck with yesterdays weigh in, which was a stay the same week. This week the leader said, we have to have 2 goals to stick with for ONE SOLID WEEK!..Then we had to write a non food reward. Mine was to do my 28 activity points a week that WW wants each week, and WRITE ALL DOWN THAT GOES IN MY MOUTH!..My reward is a warm bubbly bath, and my husband to give me a pedicure. (yeah, guess I better tell him that, huh..lol) I need 2.6 off this week! My girl friend is now ahead of me..Yeah, I called her some names..lol....Breakfast was 3/4 cup plus 3/4 cup bran flakes (2 pts) and 1 cup and 1/2 of skim milk (3 pts) and 1 cup cantaloup (1 pt)..BUT I HAVE A BBQ TO GO TO TODAY!!! yikes...I need to put you in my purse to sit on my shoulder when I hit the food line!....

Have a great Saturday..DRINK YOUR WATER!

Re: Just bought my alli today..doing WW and exercise...

That's what I was wondering:  Why would WW members be against Alli?  And I bet NONE of them are on any other diet pills...

Weight Watchers' research department even has a well-balanced article regarding their take on Alli, but for the most part any questions posted on the message boards are responded to very negatively, and show a great lack of education on the subject.  Lots of gory comments about TEs and rumors about horrid side effects.

Personally I think it's better to have a little help than to get discouraged and give up altogether.  I've lost 19 lb, can't seem to break 20, and have been monitoring my WW dient, fat and calorie-wise the last few days, and am right in the correct range for both so that Alli will benefit me and will not have unhealthy results.  I did Alli for one month when it first came out over the counter and had no ill side effects; TE only once, my own fault, and only very mildly.  The only reason I stopped was because of a family trauma, which then caused financial trauma... :)

Can't wait to get things rolling again :)  I start on the pills Tuesday.

Re: Just bought my alli today..doing WW and exercise...

Did you start????....Or was it this Tuesday you start?..Im excited for you!..My first week was a good one, but my second one was a stay the same weight. The Weight Watchers gals are like.."Good Job!" for staying the same??????!!! I dont think so..I was so dissappointed. Really upset. Cause the gal I went with lost 2.6, which put her at 25.4. Im at 24.4. I liked that little lead I had..LOL...So, I am going to drink all my water this week, 8 + Cups, and write every single thing down, and do my 28 activity points for sure!. I didnt do a lot of exercise that week, so maybe that is why it stayed the same. I dont eat a lot of fat, so maybe it is going to act slower for me. IT BETTER NOT!.. I want my 25lb weight charm thing from Weight Watchers!..LOL..It looks like the weight off a bar bell the guys lift. It is really cute. Keep in touch with me, I like to hear how you are doing!

Re: Just bought my alli today..doing WW and exercise...

As a lifetime member and former employee of Weight Watchers, which teaches a healthy weight through healthy eating and activity, it was hard to come to taking pills. If I were doing everything appropriately, I would only be eating 15 grams of fat (give or take) per day and needing every bit of it for proper body function. I love the support the Alli plan gives, but admit there is a part of me that feels like one of those people who takes laxatives to make up for eating something they feel they shouldn't have, which is associated with eating disorders. I've been using Alli for a few weeks now and I did have a good start. But I have also, finally, been able to get active. If nothing else, I set my timer for 30 minutes and dance around the living room; on top of my minimum 10 minutes a day yoga in the morning. That alone could be what worked for me. Keeping to 18 points a day at my age seems impossible so I work for 24 and still think in terms of selections (exchanges) since it's easy to eat badly by just counting points, not eating the lean meat, or not getting the minimum fruits and veggies. And I've been much better at that too, keeping it mostly under 30 points. Alli has gotten me over the hump and that is very exciting. The focus and routine it's helped me rally is great. I stayed the same weight last week and was thrilled not to be going backwards. I am fighting not to get high blood pressure and diabetes like my mother and grandmother did. And just the first 8 pounds has made a huge difference (at 5'2'' and pear shaped that's a whole pants size) in how I feel, a lot less pain in the back, legs and ankles. I have 15 lbs. to go.
