Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

Hey all, I would like to jump in and join you guys.  I am getting close to my gw.  My goal for July is to get into the 130's.  Its been years since i have seen that number. ha!  I have a check in of friday.  I figure thats the best day b/c if i cheat i do it on the weekend so i have a whole five days to recover :-D

Ashily you'll have to let me know how the water purge is going.  I have a friend who actually got one of the kits to do it.  Since i have started alli in may i have given up caffine.  I have no idea how i did it but i did.  I drink about 4 nalgenes of water a day now.  I suppose that is prolly some what close to a water purge.  As for you early comment about pant sizes.  I am 5'6 and when i weighed 158 i was a size 8 maybe pushing a 10.  I would still weigh my smaller jeans i just stopped drying them...oh the tricks we play...

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

See it boggles my mind - we're the same height, a few - 3 lbs - different and I was in a 13/14. I am actually between 5'6'' and 5'7'' and I have long legs, and love handles which if I didn't I def. would not be in a 13/14 at all. Most of my jeans are somewhat loose now, not falling down, but not snug, and I'm on the next belt loop.

With my current job of sitting at a desk staring at a computer it's been very hard to begin this water fast because everyone in my dept is constantly eating and it's boring. I'm still EASING into it because I read that you can do some damage to your liver and kidneys otherwise. It's more of a discipline thing and I def. need some of that.

I have an interview Jul 30th for a Jail Deputy position 4 hours south of me, so that's been weighing on my mind - the interview, if I pass/fail, moving, finances to do so...so you know how those stressors go...but I'm holding strong - sort of.

We have a diversity luncheon at work on Thursday (it seems like EVERYTHING here is about food and I work in FINANCE!) and I volunteered to bring in Chicken Creole, but my recipe is low cal, low fat so that's the plus side.

Have a great day ladies. I guess the triplets are still taking over the computer?

Hi all!  Sorry I've been AWOL.  I was sick as a dog last week - my son brought it home from camp and it about did my husband and I in - had to go to the doctor, get shots, drugs.  I still don't feel totally back to normal.  No exercise at all last week (or this week so far) and no Alli!  I have a ton to catch up on!

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

Don't worry about the height and size difference.  It is all about how you are built.  I have long legs and am top heavy.  Everyone carries their weight different.

My job is also mostly sitting at a desk all day.  I work in research and it is still completley about food.  I think that just how work works.  There is always pizza, or doughnuts,  or peanuts.  Its about self control.  At work ive been very good about having some.  When i go home thats a completley another story.  I do well most of the time but every now and then i have either a boring day or i get stressed.  Living with six girls makes things very stressful.  i can't wait for this month to end so i can go back to my own apartment.  I guess the one upside is here if i snack a bunch others will notice.  So they keep me honest without knowing it.  However its harder to weight myself when i have a roommate.  I try to only do it a few times a week but i like to weigh myself close to in the nude to get my real weight and having a roommate makes that harder.

    Good luck with your interview!

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

It's nice to see you back Rhonda. Hope youre feeling better.

I just got an email - they're ordering Chinese in the office today - I just got some pepper steak. I didn't have breakfast anyway - just a granola bar and I'm on my 2nd bottle of water.

I know what you mean about the scale - I don't have a scale because well I am a horrible shopper and everytime I go to Wal*Mart I never make it to that side of the store. I am still new at this living alone and being an "adult" thing - when I lived with my ex he did the shopping. But my neighbors aka my grandparents have a scale and I go over there, but I am lazy and hate clothes as it is so I never feel like getting 100% nude then getting dressed again to go back home next door. I will go over there and weigh in my PJ's - a thin tank and little sleepy shorts.

I don't think I could ever live with a roomate - I'm too OCD. My little cousin has been in town and he comes over and I feel like I have to follow him around and put everything back in place or it will eat me alive.

I can't believe we're already halfway through July!

I hope my interview goes well and then the rest of the tests and then I'm offered a job - minus the fact I'd have to move 4 hours South - I hear Naples is beautiful.

Ashilynne, you are doing so good on your water, I am so proud. I've slipped a bit (okay, a bunch) on my water drinking. I hear Naples is pretty, too. My aunt has a vacation condo there(must be nice) and she loves it. Triplemom, glad you are feeling better. I'm still recovering from this stomach bug and haven't started exercising back yet. It's nice to see a lot of new "faces" on this board, too.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

I'm doing much better on my water...don't give me too much credit. I'm sure the Officer I rode with Saturday night was sick of me. I had two bottles of water, a huge glass at dinner, and a bottle of Apple Juice from 6pm-5am and had to pee 100 times!

I haven't worked out since Friday. I'm trying to give my knee a rest. I skipped PT last week and this week simply for financial reasons - those $25 copays add up fast. But I do the exercises at home. I worked out on the eliptical Thurs and Friday and then Saturday at work my knee was in terrible pain, but it seems okay now. I just want it to heal properly so I can start training for the Academy the right way. The start date for any position right now looks to be the end of 08 so I have time.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

I think i am a lil too ocd for roommates as well.  I have been doing really good this summer at not freaking out, but things are starting to bother me.  Such as people not doing the dishes, taking out the trash, acutally cleaing the apartment.  There are six of us and why do i feel like i do these things at least every other time they need to be done?  I am glad this is only a summer thing.  once again i want my apartment back!  or at least my own bedroom.

If your knee is really bothering you its best to stay off it for now.  You can always do something low intensity like pilates were you spend all your time pretty much laying down.  Isn't it great that they call that a work out?

I hope you guys get over you bugs.  Its hard to be sick in the summer when its so warm and sunny out.  Its much better in the winter.  At least then you can stay home and be happy because u didn't have to go out in the cold.  Then again i don't know how far north or south you are so you might have warm winters and HOT summers.

Anyways, i'm off.  Tonight i'm going to a sports bar to watch the all star game...wish me luck at actually eatting right.  I will take the pill either way b/c if i slip i'll get the TE's i deserve.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

     Good morning ladies!

So today is a food day in the office, it's a "diversity luncheon", and so I prepared. I made Chicken Creole for the first time last night to bring in today for the luncheon. I of course sampled it, it was very good. It's also low fat, only 3 grams per serving and it only has about either 225 or 265 calories per serving as well!

Hope the deptartment likes it! I did!

     Ashilynne,

Your Creole Chicken sounds really great.  How do you prepare it? I would really like to make something great for my family and something different.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

This is the exact recipe I used, however I hate celery so I took it out. I also did not add the chili power, but I did add about half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to add some spice (not too much).

I served it over minute rice.

This quick Southern dish contains no added fat and very little added salt in its spicy tomato sauce.

    as needed nonstick cooking spray
4 medium chicken breast halves, skinned, boned, and cut into 1-inch strips*
1 can (14 oz)   tomatoes, cut up**
    1 C low-sodium chili sauce
    1-1/2 C green peppers, chopped (1 large)
    1/2 C celery, chopped
    1/4 C onion, chopped
    2 cloves minced garlic
1 Tbsp fresh basil or 1 tsp dried
1 Tbsp fresh parsley or 1 tsp dried
    1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
    1/4 tsp salt

    1. Spray a deep skillet with nonstick spray coating. Preheat pan over high heat.
    2. Cook chicken in hot skillet, stirring, for 3-5 minutes, or until no longer pink. Reduce heat.
    3. Add tomatoes and their juice, low-sodium chili sauce, green pepper, celery, onion, garlic, basil, parsley, crushed red pepper, and salt. Bring to boiling; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
    4. Serve over hot cooked rice or whole wheat pasta.
    * You can substitute 1 lb boneless, skinless, chicken breast, cut into 1-inch strips. ** To cut back on sodium, try low sodium canned tomatoes.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

ugg TE.  I figured it would happen, but still i hoped it wouldn't.  At least i was at home.  I am feeling really discouraged about tomorrow weigh in. I havent been feeling it at all this week.  It stinks because i really was on such a good trend.  I felt great about the program and doing it.  Its funny because the one week that i'm thinking negatively is the week that my step is postive thinking.  I'm not listening very well.  I don't think it helps that i have a roommate here that is constantly saying she is fat (which she is not 5'3 size 8).  I do what i can to bolster her self esteem but it can go only so far.  Its all starting to weigh on me.  I am very bad about concentrating on just myself.  I tend to put a lot on myself as opposed to others because i like to take care of people.  I guess i just need to take care of myself.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

Oh Kristin we have ALOT in common. I'm always putting other people above myself. It's a good and bad trait to have because at the end of the day I have no room for ME.

I'm having an okay week. Had a TE last night, but I guess I'm still confused, it wasn't really a TE, I went to the restroom and there was orange oil in my bowel movement and from my understanding that's not a sign you went over, just your body expelling it. I feel GREAT today. I am wearing pants I haven't worn in a few weeks and they are not falling off yet, but they are def. more loose than the last time I had them on. Same thing with the shirt Im wearing. It's not as snug.

I'm ready for my Sunday weigh in. I hope to soon see 149 - I'd be so happy to get out of the 150's since it's been a LONG LONG time since that's happened.

I survived our luncheon - I am a picky eater and so I actually only ate my own dish, about 2 servings - 6grams of fat and I haven't had alot of calories so that's okay. I did have two small choc. chip cookies though - but I forgive myself because this is the week before my monster comes aka the only time I really crave chocolate or sweets.

Re: I want to lose 5lbs in July - Anyone else?

Weigh in was today.  Yesterday evening i was steady at 141.5 and this morning i was 142.5.  I decided that i was going to use 142 which means as far as check in it was the same as last week.  I feel like my TOM must be coming up because i am feeling slightly crazy.  Typically i don't gain or maintan the week before but lose.  I am just going have to get over that.  I need to really concentrate on my attude.  It is really failing right now.  Hopefully the weekend can bring it back around
