    new to Alli

I am new to this program and very nervous. I am not a big veg or fruit eater. I started to take the pills yesterday. I am not one to go by the menu they made out in the book since I have already gone food shopping for the month before I decided to do this. I do buy lean ground beef, bonless chicken, lettuce w fat free dressing. I have alot of tuna fish. I do not fry I always back things. If I just watch what I usually buy and how I cook it will I be ok. I do eat whole wheat bread also. I do work outside the home and there is always food around at the Elem school where I work. I am going to try to bring my own snacks. For lunch I will look into the lean gourmet meals someone had mentioned. I dont know If we have albertson around here. Any suggestions or help you all can give me would be great. I am a mom of 4 and have high blood pressure and would like to loose weight. I do go to curves two times a week.

    THanks

    Re: new to Alli

    Robin,

Glad you started the Alli Program.  I am answering your post cause we sound to much alike.  I am a food service manager at a high school and that was a challange when I started.  I did lose 19lbs while school was in.  I have been off for two weeks and got to 21lbs but, one came back.  I also go to Curves at least 3 to 4 times a week. 2 is not enough.. You have to help yourself.. I started bringing in my own snacks and lunch because there really is no way to figure out how many cals and fats are in the school food.  They are working on that tho...Is Ga. doing the wellness food program?  I am from Calif. and we are in it big time.. Have you tried any of the new V-8 juices?  Lots of fruits and vegs and taste pretty good.. This is just a start for you and do not give up.  Like the Fresno Bulldogs.. Just had to do that cause my kid goes to Fresno State.. Don't be mad..  Just remember this is for you and a new healthy life.  You can go onto the other boards and get all kinds of advise and wonderful ideas.  \\\\ Talk at you later, Linda

    Re: new to Alli

I just wanted to start by saying that I am so proud of you for making this first step.  it's so exciting because I was so nervous too and it really is so easy!!!  I am still amazed!  I have averaged 2 lb/week (some of that was 6-8lbs in a week and other weeks only 2 but the average is 2/week).  I have been doing this for 15 weeks and have lost 30lbs.  I haven't always took my pills and haven't always stuck to the plan but when I have fallen away, I always pick back up and start as if it's a new day and from the beginning....never give up!

For me, I buy snacks and divie them up as soon as I can into serving sized baggies.. 45 pretzel stix, 15 baked tostino chips, 15 baked doritos, etc.  I have a basket in my pantry (closet) that is just for me with MY stuff in it.  Weight watchers cookies and cakes with the nutrition info cut out and in the basket too.  I find that if I buy something that I am prone to eat, i just don't buy it anymore.  If my family or kids want it, I buy it once and treat myself to a treat that's not what they are having.  I also have the big Alli book that has all the recipes in it so I can try something new from time to time.  There are some great recipes in the alli recipe box too.  You need one more thing, a cheering section.  I have 1 really close friend that is going this with me but after taking the pills, she found that they give her headaches and has stopped taking them.  She is however still watching the calorie and fat intake and losing very well.  We call each other everyday and ask how we did and what can we change if we had a bad day.  We also talk through problems of the day which helps not to have the snack attacks.  enjoy the foods you can have and every once in a while, treat yourself to a special treat...frozen yogurt with Diet pop for a wonderful float.  A white cake mix with only 1 can diet orange soda and bake as directed...  poke holes with fork and make (only 1st half of directions on pkg) orange jello and pour over top of the cake.  Put in fridge and let cool and add cool whip for frosting and manderine oranges for topping.  Cut into 12 pieces and it's 157.5 calories and 3.5 grams fat.  WONDERFUL TREAT!!!!

Again, I am so proud of you for making this a priority and you will find that you are stronger than you think and this will be so natural after a few weeks.  It takes 21 days to start a new habit....you are on your way!!!  Enjoy and remember, you deserve to be happy and healthy and your family gets to reap the benefits from you being a happier you.

Good luck and God Bless! -atimm

I do that too, Amimm.  It's impossible to guess how many pretzles make up your allotted ounces unless you measure them out.

30 pounds ... Wow!  Keep at it Amimm!  I'm inspired by folks like you.
