    Breakfast - "Smart Ones"

I live alone, and do not like to "cook" a full breakfast, or any other meal for that matter.

I have found the "Smart Ones" brand, in the freezer section of the local grocery store, has prepared products for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The cost of the meals is very reasonable. There are even desserts that are in the allowances for fat and calorie consumption.

I brought up their site. This is ridiculus and not a breakfast. All they have is a muffin and a sandwich as their choices. What a great variety? Why not enjoy something like this:

    3/4 of a cup of cheerios= 110 calories

1/2 of a cup of skim milk = 40 calories

6 oz light and fit yogurt = 60 calories

    green/herbal tea

This breakfast provides protein from the yogurt and milk. It provides healthy wholegrains from the cereal which infact is proven to lower your cholesterol. It is low in sodium. Also the sugar is low in sugar 6-8 grams and low in calories unlike many other brands. The herba/ green tea provides warmth and antioxidants for 0 calories and even if you sweeten it slightly with splenda you only add another 4 calories. I garuntee you would feel way better and feel better eating this than some frozen "junk" with perservatives galore and hefty sodium count to top it off!

Well, I have to agree with your choice of breakfast, but sometimes, people just don't want the distraction of cooking and/or preping food for meals.  My solution is Saveway has Eating Right meals that aren't loaded with preservatives and tells you the caloric content and breakdown.

Here's an idea, you could purchase the snack-pak sizes of your favorite cereals, keep a container of non-fat milk at work and a box of splenda in your desk.  On your way to work, stop and pick up a few days worth of fresh fruit.  I'm not a big yogurt fan, but you can eat some lowfat cheeses (string is really good) to eat with the other pieces of fruit.

Splenda is calorie-free and is not absorbed by the body, so I don't know where you got the 4 calories from, but it is still a better choice than regular sugar or the other artificial sweeteners.

    Good luck with breakfast ideas.

    Re: Breakfast - "Smart Ones"

The Lean Pocket breakfasts are really good.  The servings are for 1 pocket (130 calories, 4 grams of fat), but 2 come in a package.  I eat 2 pockets at a time for a total of 260 calories and 8 grams of fat.  It's filling and pretty close to my needs for breakfast.  To bring up the calories and fat, I just eat a yogurt or an apple with some peanut butter too.  This way you're full and you have an easy breakfast.  There's a total of 4 pockets in one box, so when needed you have 2 easy breakfasts.  I hope this helps!  By the way, the nutritional info was for the Egg, Ham and Cheese type.  :)

My main concern about smart ones, elan pockets, etc is that generally those meals have very high sodium content.

    Re: Breakfast - "Smart Ones"

Splenda is NOT calorie free. By law any item may be labeled as 0 if below 4 calories although sucralose is splenda is not because fillers are added (ex: maltodextrin, etc). Google it....
