    The dreaded "A" word...Alcohol...

I realize most of my weight may be due to alcohol consumption.......what is a reasonable amount, if any should be consumed during my Alli phase?

Alchohol is just "empty" calories, which is why is it usually forbidden!  If you drink something that is measurable and that you can track on your meal plan then you are certainly taking into account the calories etc. that go with it...at least that's my story and I'm stickin to it!  I've found that either light rum or vodka mixes very well w/ the ZERO calorie/carb/sugar bubbly waters...I like the lime flavor the best.  It's also very refreshing.  Wines are listed in the meal plans, but be careful...they say ONE OUNCE....and so you have to adjust.

    Good Luck!!

    Re: The dreaded "A" word...Alcohol...

     Hi!

So I'm 25 and pretty much everything for the moment, weddings, batchelorette parties, camping, girls nights out, revolve around alcohol.  I have been on alli since 6/28/08 and have had a lot of alcohol during that time (ha).  But I have to say i was never a beer drinker.  if you drinks beer that's tough, try amstel light or michelob (sp?) ultra if you can.  I do sugar free red bull and vodka (yeah, not often, but at the bachelorette party), that was great.  In general i usually make up a pitcher of crystal light and add vodka.  Or you can buy light mikes hard lemonade, 97 cals per bottle.  I'm a lightweight now and three is good for me.  stay away from red wine and white wine, both have a lot of calories, if you are going to have it, just have a small glass.  I don't think you need to avoid it all togehter, just modify.

    good luck!

Champagne only has about 550 calories per bottle. Otherwise, try sugar free syrups and diet sodas with liquor. I like Raspberry Sugar-free syrup, diet sprite, and a little bit of vodka. This way, all your calories are coming from the alcohol, so its easier to monitor.

we all know most if not all alcohol is high in calories especially beer light beer is ok in moderation I love wine so I have a bottle of either merlot, chardonnay or white zinfindel. and drink it every now and then. I know that If I have a craving for it I know I can go and get a glass Not drink the whole bottle and be satisfied. Just like the other person said Light rum with diet coke has zero calories.

    Re: The dreaded "A" word...Alcohol...

Instead of my nightly glass of wine, I have been making a spritzer, a tablespoon or two of wine and seltzer water over ice.

It isn't quite the same, but it is way fewer of the empty calories.  I had it a party last weekend, too.  Another plus is you can buy super cheap wine for this because it doesn't matter when it's mixed.

I just saw this now, and if you are asking me about wine for spritzers, yes, any wine will do.  I drink dry, white, but there's no reason you couldn't use red or sweet.

The other thing that I have done to help control my wine urges is to keep the bottle out in the garage.  We have a second refrigerator out there, but now that the weather's colder, you wouldn't even need to do that.  Very effective!
