    23 weeks and 20 pounds

I started the alli program on 1-29-08. Tomorrow that will be 23 weeks! I never thought I would stick with a change like this. I am down 20 pounds as of this morning and feel great! Staying with this program through the ups and downs has shown me that I can be successful at losing weight! I've learned to forgive myself when I "slip up," and not let it sabotage my entire week. I've also learned to take things a day at a time, even a meal at a time!

My weight loss may seem slow to some, but for me, it's perfect. I think of the tortoise and the hare, and the saying, "Slow and steady wins the race." I think that by losing the weight gradually, I will be more likely to keep it off. It hasn't been easy. I've given up some of the things I used to take for granted, like deep-fried foods, but, I never really was a huge indulger in those types of foods before I started alli, so it hasn't been too "painful."

Thanks to alli, I am 20 pounds lighter!

    Peace, Susan

Re: 23 weeks and 20 pounds

Susan job well done!! I also started Alli in Jan. Jan 09,2008. To date I have lost 30 pounds while taking Alli. I have also learned to take it one meal at a time some days. I have read about people that started when I did losing 50-60 pounds, but I am happy with my 30 so far. I am just glad to be losing. I always drop the ball on exercising but I am trying to work on that. Keep up the great work!!

    Hi Susan,

Congratulations on your success! It sounds to me like you are losing at the perfect rate. The goal is to find what works for you. You want to make changes that you can stick with. Most people end up gaining weight back when they lose it too quickly. It's always better to lose it slowly and keep it off!

    Keep up the great work,

    Betty Kovacs, MS, RD

Re: 23 weeks and 20 pounds

    Hi Everyone,

Wanted to check in with everyone. I lost 2 more pounds this week. I now weigh 266 pounds-I started at 303 pounds the last week of January. So that is a total of 37 pounds I have lost since January 26th when I started Alli. I don't know why but a few weeks ago the site made me start over on the steps because I had been through them all. That was ok but now on my profile it just shows my weight loss for the last 2 weeks and not the last 6 months-ugh! I am going to have to call the Alli site and find out why because I would sure like to have it show my total weight loss and not just the last 2 weeks. Anyone know why they do that? I have checked in every single week since I started but when I got to the last step it asked me if I wanted to go to the maintenance stage or start over. Of course I am not ready for the maintenance stage yet and still have a ways to go so I chose to start over on the steps.

I haven't made the phone call yet because the last 2 weeks have been extremely exhausting and emotionally draining. My 86 year old Mother passed away last Monday-July 7th. We had the funeral July 10th and hopefully things will start to get back to "normal" My Father lives with my  husband and me and he has Alzheimers so we are dealing with him understanding Mom's passing also. He will turn 86 years old tomorrow. He has lived with us the last 4 1/2 years and Mom had been in a nearby nursing home the last 4 1/2 years. I have been the legal guardian for them both. Mom had Hospice help also the last few months and the last two weeks we were running back and forth between caring for my Father and being with Mom at the nursing home, the last week she was incoherent and thankfully she peacefully went to be with the Lord last Monday. I was scared to even get on the scales yesterday when it was my checkin day because of course things have not been normal for both my exercise and eating plan. Miraculously I still lost the additional 2 pounds this week and am looking forward to getting back on track with Alli and my life. Even though I didn't follow the plan as usual I still have done better than I would have before Alli.

If anyone knows why I don't have my total weight loss on my profile etc now please help me out-perhaps Betty Kovacs can help me out on this question like she has so many before. Best of wishes to everyone on this weight loss journey-remember to take it One Day At A Time and that with God All Things are Possible. God Bless,  Robinest58

     Betty,

This is Robinest58-I just wrote a post on the 100+ forume check in thread-I am going to paste it here so that you can read it without looking for it because I wanted to contact you. Also it looks like the site has changed some recently-how do I change my info for my profile I use for the forums now? For instance by my name I wanted to update my current weight when i post something and I can't seem to get to the right place to do that now since things have changed some-thanks so much for all your help. Robin

     Robin,

I think you are talking about your signature on your posts. We are working to have this back, and once we do, it will be in the "edit my preferences" area.

    Reply to Melissa

Melissa, thanks! I, too, drop the ball when it comes to exercising. I would no doubt be losing more weight if I exercised on a more "regular" basis. Congratulations on losing 30 pounds!
