So I have bought alli ---

Now After reading all the posts I am a lil frightened to take my first pill due to the talk of TE's -- I have a sensitive stomach .

Was any one else a lil afraid to start alli??

    Thanks in advance

     Yes, a little...

I started with Alli a year ago, had to abandon the program due to family circumstances... I just ordered another supply and will be starting again this week.

I can't say that I have a sensitive stomach but I have never had problems with side effects while on Alli.  Even the one time I did mess up with my fat intake, it was nothing terrible, just... lesson learned.

Just be really careful with your fat intake (which we should watch anyway) and all you can do is see what happens.  I think the thing I noticed more than anything was that I couldn't tell if it was working or not because I did not feel any different, my stomach was fine, my digestion was normal... you begin to wonder if it's working. :)

That is how I have been feeling.  I have had no side effects - I've been taking it for about a week now and my fat has in some cases been a little high but no change in my body works. So I really have been wondering if it's working, I guess I will know when I weigh on Monday.

Re: So I have bought alli ---

I too was afraid to try Alli after reading about the effects. But I just grabbed it one day at the store when I was so frustrated with exercising and losing nothing.

Now, I did not start taking it yet, it sat on my dresser for a good few months. I was ready to mail it to my sister who desperately wanted to try it. I had it in hand ready to go to the post office with it and finally decided to give it a go. I had invested the money in it for my health, I had to at least give it a try right?

So the first few days it did nothing to me as far as effects. I made sure to eat healthy low fat meals and by the third day I started to lose weight.

As far as having a sensitive stomach, well, I have been on Prilosec OTC for over a year now due to my stomach sensitivity and the Alli has not effected it in the least bit, unless I go overboard on something I should not be eatting in the first place. And that is more of a gassy feeling then sensitivity.

Give it a try, I am sure you will have the same success story to share soon :)

Re: So I have bought alli ---

I was a little skeptical at first, since I don't have the greatest reaction to some foods on a daily basis to begin with (lactose intolerant and I can't eat eggs or broccoli.)  In the beginning I had a couple of the mild side effects (first 2-3 days) and then once when I had a ton of pizza with my dad, even though I didn't take the pill.  Lesson learned there but nothing embarrassing.  I think the best side effect is that it kind of keeps you honest.  I look at my fiance eating ice cream and while in my head I think "hmmm, that would taste good" I know that it might not be so pleasant in the end so I just ignore it.  And it feels really good to make that decision.

I don't really believe in weighing myself all that often so I'm not sure if I have lost weight yet.  I would like to think that I have, but I'll be checking the scale at the end of the month.  I'm committed to walking 15 miles a week, and I just ordered a Wii Fit for those days when I want to work on my core at home or when it is raining outside (hey, I live in Seattle!).

Hang in there, give it a consistent week; you won't know if it is for you unless you give it a try.  I say anything that could help shave off another 2 pounds for every 5-8 you lose is totally worth the money!  I got a great deal on the pills at Costco, 150 for less than $70.

    Good Luck!

Re: So I have bought alli ---

I just started on Alli on July 5th. I haven't had any diarreah or accidents in public. Things have been fine as long as I don't go over my fat intake. the quesion I have for youis this- are you following the exact fat grams they are telling you or do you mostly go below what amount of fat grams you can take?

Also when they are talking about oily stool have you ever experienced oily spots floating in the toilet? This is all so new to me and I want to make sure to do the right thing and finally be able to get rid of my weight.

    Thanks~Linda

Re: So I have bought alli ---

    Hey Linda,

I did encounter the "oily spots."  At first I was like "what the eff?" and then I remembered that is was a possible side effect, and now if it happens I just kind of laugh.  I just remind myself that the oil floating there could be going straight to my thighs instead.  :)

I limit my fat grams to under 15 for every meal, and usually under 10.  I have been taking Alli for a little over 2 weeks and everything seems to be cruising along just fine.  I eat about 5 times a day (small portions) but only take Alli with breakfast, lunch and dinner, since my morning and afternoon snacks are usually just fruit or fat-free yogurt.  Keep chugging that water!

    Cheers!

Re: So I have bought alli ---

I just bought my first alli starter kit today.... I am very nervous about the treatment effects now that I have read everything cover to cover - but that said, hopefully the fear of TE's will keep me on track.

I am going to begin taking them on Tuesday after I have a few days to eat properly (hopefully) and make sure that I have the right foods in our house.

Re: So I have bought alli ---

I restarted my alli plan today and I am so happy that I did. I had good success in the past, but got lazy and decided that I could lose weight on my own.

I really didn't have much of the treatment effects in the past and that helped my in my decision to restart the program. I am looking forward to sticking with it.
