    Double Doses

    Hello,

I had read that if you take 2 pills it is the equivalence of the prescription strength and it is ok. So I have been taking 2 pills with every meal. Is that ok, if it is my choice? I haven’t had extreme treatment effects like I was told. I am keeping at 18 grams or below fat intake at meals. I just want to make sure this ok for my body.

    Thanks!

    Re: Double Doses

    Hi TAVARESM79,

Alli, the 60mg orlistat formulation, is intended for over-the counter use.

Zenical, the 120mg orlistat formulation, requires a prescription.

One dose of Alli will block about 25% of the fat with minimal treatment effects, while the 120mg dose blocks about 35% of the fat with a doubling of the risk.

    Re: Double Doses

Sometimes by the time I get done eating, I can't remember if I actually took a pill or just thought about taking a pill. I don't think I've ever actually taken a double dose. Most of my meals are under 10g fat, so I don't have problems with TEs. anyway. But if I did take a double dose do I need to worry about anything other than possible TEs?

    Re: Double Doses

    Hi Sumbdy,

You do not need to worry about any other adverse effect with double the dose other than the increased risk of treatment effects.

    Hope this helps.
