    New to Alli

Hi I am new to alli, just started on 7/15.  So for so good with no side effects. Those have really had me worried since I work 4/10's.  I use to be on WW and I did really well I had lost over 41 lbs.  I started a PT job and was not able to meet meetings, so I dropped out and added almost have added all the pounds back on.  I had my physical and talked with my doctor about feeling so bad about my weight.  She recommended a prescription or try to use alli.  I first started with the Rx and it did curb my appetite.  I didn't like the expense for the Rx so I broke down and thought I would give alli a try since the doc recommended it.  So far so good I guess.  I like most would like for the weight to come off as fast as it came back on, but that is not being realistic.  I use to walk everyday at lunch but now I only get 30 minutes.  I can't get motivated to workout on the treadmill at home. Hubby isn't a help.  They always say it's better with a buddy, I just wish I could find one.  I hope this message board will be just as good.

    Re: New to Alli

Blazers, the weight will come off as fast as it came on.  Think about it.  You didn't wake up one morning 20 pounds heavier than you were yesterday.  So be patient and work your plan.

Find a message board below this one that fits in with your age or the number of pounds you want to lose.  You'll find you are not alone and will find plenty of wonderful people to exchange ideas with.

The nutritionist boards are so very helpful if you have specific questions.

    Best of success!

    Mary

    Re: New to Alli

I am new to Alli also. I hav been overweight for a while and I finally had enough.  Broke down and tried the alli- I am not big o fad diets... so I guess we will see.  I am also having trouble with the exercise... my Hubb works later than I do and he comes home so tired.  I tried to enlist my best friend but she is always so busy... I don't even get the 30 minutes in... I would imagine the weight would come off faster if I were moving more.  This is my first week, so we will see.

I will exercise tomorrow ;-)  That is my goal and if I have to get on the tredmill at midnight...

    Hi jdemo78,

Exercise is key to any successful weight loss program. This is what will help burn off those calories, boost up your metabolism and energy, decrease your appetite and help keep the weight off in the long run.  Even if at first you cannot get the 30 minutes in at one time start with breaking it down in 10 minute segments.  Once you get into the routine it will be easier to work it into your day.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: New to Alli

Hi I'm also new to Alli and I find it difficult to exercise. I don't have anyone to keep my child so I can't go to the gym and after 10 minutes at home I'm bored and I give up.  My 4 year old I tried the walking together, but we don't get far when she wants to come back.  My hubby is supportive, but he won't exercise with me.  I also wish I had a buddy to support me.  I'm hoping to find this on these boards.  This is my first check-i and I lost 6 pounds, but I figure most of that was fluids in your first week. Sometimes, I read these boards and get discouraged, because I'm not sure if I am doing the right things.  I just have to stay motivated.  Does anyone know about any chatrooms for dieters.  I thought that might be easier than the boards.  Good luck to everyone.

    Re: New to Alli

    Hi jskdean76,

Don't get discouraged, you need to adopt a can do attitude.  At first it may be a challenge to fit in the exercise but you can get it in smaller bits.  Instead of 30 minutes at a time, try 10 minutes spurts 3 times a day and then build it up.   Your husband can show his support by watching your daughter while you exercise.

Alli just started a new program which is called "Alli Circles".  You can create a small community in a circle with other alli dieters in which you chat and support one another.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: New to Alli

I am doing great! I can't seem to get into the everyday thing - but I did swim 18 laps Saturday and 34 laps Sunday (and I am talking "official" 25 meter pool laps).  I did weights yesterday and nothing today (I had a distraction).  Back on the exercise bandwagon tomorrow.

I am down 4.5 lbs and one size smaler in my 1st week so hopefully the trend continues.  I will get moving tomorrow - just needed today to relax.

Anyone else have motivational issues when it comes to the exercise?

Great job JD!  Keep up the super work!

I for sure have motivational issues, especially when it's hot.  Fortunately, my dog is involved in my walking routines.  She's really expecting her walks now, and I feel bad if I let her down.  If not a pup, an exercise buddy will help.  Somebody to prod you on.

    Best of success!

    Re: New to Alli

Yeah I dont really have a buddy.  The person who said she would exercise with me has been blowing me off - or bringing her daughter with me who is a teenager size 2 and she brings me down...  I would rather do it on my own at that point (know what I mean?).  I am walking tonight and then do some more weights.

    Re: New to Alli

Yes, I hear you JD.  But for my dog, I'd be doing it myself.  When you start something like this, friends are yea! yea! when you tell them.  But when it comes time to do the doing, it's sometimes a different story.  I can't because ... yatta, yatta, yatta.

Size 2 is just not human :-)  That poor gal ought to be restricted to bed rest.

There are times that my best walking buddy is my WalkMan.  Have to find some Marines hut! hut! tapes with no backtalk.  LOL!

Stay with it JD.  It's about you, not size 2.

    Best,

    Mary

    Re: New to Alli

Thanks! I walked a mile, did some weights, I feel good.  I can't wait - tomorrow is game night with friends and I am dying to do the WII boxing - I have heard it is quite the workout!  Then Saturday and Sunday is swimming (many many laps to be done.

All in all, not a bad week!  I hope I lose this week, I feel good either way.

    Re: New to Alli

Hang in there everyone!  When I feeling discouraged because I ate something wrong or haven't exercised, I just think I'm doing better than what I was doing before in the overall picture. Since I started watching my calories and fat, it was unbelievable what i was putting into my body.  I feel so much better.  I'm not tired like I was and my complexion and skin is 100% better.  I have a long way to go, but this is the first time I feel like I'm eating healthy and not depriving myself and starving to death.  My best friend is skinny and she has no clue what I'm going through.  I just try to reach out here on the message boards when I need support.  Good luck everyone!
