    Starting my journey with Alli

    hi everyone,

I just started alli yesterday, and I'm excited to start getting healthier. I've got diet and exercise in order; I just need to be better at tracking my food. I hope this will be a good experience!

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

     Hi,

I just started last week.  It hasn't been that bad.  This week I need to start getting into an exercise routine.  I have already lost more than 5lbs.  The experience has been great for me so far.  Good luck on your first week.

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

    Hi dcapulet

I have the same problem at tracking my food. I am doing the low calorie and trying to stay away from the "bad" foods but  tracking everything is a challenge. So basically i am not tracking I am just being conscious of what I hate and making sure that I follow the Alli plan. I just started on monday 7-14-08. Well I wish you the best! i'll be speaking with you.

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

I started Alli yesterday (7/19) and my first day was okay.  I did journal everything I ate and what I found out was that I don't eat enough.  My calorie intake was supposed to be 1800 which I am going to decrease.  I had approximately 1400 and that was after eating a bag of popcorn.  I watched my fat intake and did not go over on that either.  I'll see how it goes today.

    Good luck with your journey,

    Kathy

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

     Morning all,

You'll find that your nutrition log is extremely helpful.  Go to your meal plan.  Over on the left you'll see a link that says nutrition log.  Save what you did eat from the day's menu.  Add any extras you had.  The menu doesn't account for things like cream or sugar in your coffee, or if you added something to get your calorie intake where it's supposed to be for the day.  You'll see it calculates your nutritional intake for the day.  Pay close attention to anything in red and don't forget your multi-vitamin.

I've been using Alli for a full month now and haven't had any treatment effects.  For me it was best to be pretty rigid about the menu at first.  Now I have the hang of it and it's become a lifestyle for me, not a diet.

Best of success to all of you.

    Mary

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

Sounds like everyone is getting off to a good start. I find that the only way I can be accountable for how much I'm eating is to write it down; so thanks for the log link. I'm doing well with exercise: 30 min of walking daily, 5 days a week. It feels good to acutally accomplish something for myself. I've been away from school for about 7 months, and have lost that feeling of being productive for myself (not for my clients, husband, or kids). I know that the scale is not the only idicator, but also how i look and feel. That being said, I hope my numbers are lower this week!

Logging your food and exercise is really helpful - I like this site and once you have added any foods you eat that aren't in their food database, it makes logging your diet really easy.

    Good luck!

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

Hello All and congratulations on your start with Alli. I just started taking Alli several days ago so I will be anxious to check in on Thursday. I have been on WW for a little over a year and have lost 40 pounds but many more to go and I felt like I was plateauing on WW. I had read about Alli but was afraid to try it and then I thought, what the heck.

I am very good at tracking everything I eat -- even after being on WW for a year, I still write down what I eat so having to keep track of my fat intake was not hard. What is hard is getting any exercise in. I have osteoarthritis of my back and most days it is extremely difficult to move. I do use the Wii which I understand is not a lot of exercise but at least I'm moving.

I have found the message boards to be extremely beneficial since we all seem to be in the same boat. So best of luck to all of you and I will look forward to hearing about your successes!

    Have a good week everybody!

    Cathie

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

I just started Alli as well.  I lost 4 lbs the first week but wonder if it will continue to be easy.  I am trying to use a journal this week and count calories.  I've never done this before.  Exercise will be my biggest goal.  cpb

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

     Hi,

Well I just bought my groceries and plan to begin tomorrow. I spent $245.00....wow! Getting started is expensive. I hope it gets a little less expensive. I hope there will be plenty of people on here to chat with.

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

     Hi Lilteach,

I hope that big grocery bill didn't discourage you.  It won't be that way all the time.  Once you've stocked your pantry, a lot of those things will last quite awhile.  The Alli menu plan is very flexible.  You can substitute meals easily, making use of the chicken for example, in more than one meal.

    Good luck and best wishes!

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

Lilteach -- lol -- I said to my husband after grocery shopping one day -- geez, dieting is expensive! But once you get going it will not be that way all the time. Just keep a journal -- very important -- and best of luck. Keep us posted on your progress -- the folks on here are awesome!

Re: Starting my journey with Alli

It may seem expesive at the start but if you remember all the money that you spent on the "junk foods" that we ate before dieting it probably cost us much more.
