    Feeling frustrated: Living with others

My husband and I are living with my parents right now (we just moved from Florida to Arizona).  I also had a baby 7 months ago. Well I told myself that I really needed to start loosing weight!! I feel like I weight more than when I was pregnant I feel like I look 8  months pregnant. Well everyone "says" they are really supportive but my dad comes home this morning with doughnuts, banana nut cake, bagels etc.

I wasn't mad but I was astonished its not even good for them. Well i'm not that concern right now about what everyone else eats. But isn't it harder when living with others who are eating JUNK food that you happen to like too? Well I didn't give in to temptation. Instead I had egg whites and whole wheat toast.

Just sharing with all. Good look with food and graving temptations!!!

     Hi Ana,

You could have toasted 1/2 a bagel.  Got any fat free cream cheese or low fat PB?  Or if you like egg whites, they're not bad on a 1/2 bagel.  Sprinkle with just a tiny bit of cheese, run it under the broiler.  Yum!

Alli is really very flexible once you get the hang of it.  If you're all going to sit down to dinner together, you'll soon naturally pick out the foods you know are OK for you.  Veggies, salad, keep portion control in mind.

You could also take Dad aside and ask him to be your Alli as well and bring home things he knows you can enjoy along with everyone else.

    Stick with it kiddo!

    Mary

I know what you are going through. My husband, although he means well, has no idea what it is like to be overweight. I have been taking Alli for 3 weeks and he continues to bring home cakes, ice cream, lots of junk food. He talks about chocolate pies and things of that nature. I have told him that I do not appreciate it and that it makes it harder on me when there are so many temptations in my own refrigerator. When I first decided to start this program he promised to walk with me every chance he could. In 3 weeks he has walked with me 3 times. He always comes up with some excuse as to why he can't do it. I do have a great support system in my sister-in-law. She has been dieting since January and has lost 62lbs. without taking any kind of weight loss supplement. I applaud her for it and she pushes me to do better.

Hoo Ray for your sister-in-law and hoo ray for you for sticking to your guns.

My husband has the metabolism of a 19 year old and eats all kinds of junk.  I go out of my way to bring him "goodies" that I don't eat.  Like coconut for example.  I hate the stuff.  So instead of Boston Cream, he gets Coconut Custard!

Someone mentioned frozen grapes in another post recently.  Good way to satisfy your sweet tooth without the fat.
