    Plateau of No Ends

Ive been stuck at the same weight, 150 at 5'4, for countless months. I eat exactly 1275 calories a day and exercise for an hour a day everyday. I only eat vegetables and drink a little bit of low-fat soymilk each day (no bread, no meat, no fruits, only vegetables). Ive trained myself to rarely ever break my diet (and if I do, its from eating a single piece of fruit or some other minor food). I kick up my exercise routine regularly too.

Ive become a well oiled diet machine, but I dont lose any weight. I wonder if Ive messed up my metabolism. Since I have such a low fat diet, Alli hasnt been helping at all.

Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you.

    Sincerely, Robin

    Hi Robin,

Sorry for the late response, but somehow your post got lost in our message board.  After reading your post, I am left with a number of questions:

For how long have you follow the 1275 calorie diet?  That is quite low and if you don't eat bread, meat, or fruits, that means you are only eating vegetables?  No matter how "healthy" a vegetable only diet is, that is not considered a balanced or healthy diet.  I am surprised you have not developed any vitamin or mineral deficiencies...

How log have you been taking alli?  While taking alli is very important that you consume a diet with a variety of foods.

With respect to exercise, you got to keep moving your routine o you get to use all the different muscles.  The same goes with food, if you do not eat enough nutrients (carbs, fat, protein and fat) then your metabolism will probably slow down.

Hope we can provide some help along the way, keep the questions coming.

    Re: Plateau of No Ends

Thank you so much for replying to my message.

Ive been on my low calorie/vegetable only diet for a very long time, about a year. I did lose weight at first, but gained it all back once I added a variety of foods into my diet. Now I am back to my vegetable only diet in a attempt to lose the weight again. I am just nervous that if I add a variety of foods into my diet, I'll gain weight.

I have been using alli, but off and on since I know that it blocks fat and I dont have any fat in my diet.

What foods should I be eating? Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks again for all your help.

    Re: Plateau of No Ends

Here is a great source for learning to create a healthy and balanced meals:

    www.mypyramid.gov

The simplest way to build a healthy meal plan with a variety of foods is by filling your plate with different  colors.  It is important to remember that all foods have calories so if you stay within the calories your body needs to lose the weight, you will lose weight as long as you don't exceed your calories.  Hope this makes sense...
