    trouble exercising

I have taking alli for 2 weeks now and I have gained 3 pounds.  I know I need to exercise more but I'm finding it hard to stay motivated to exercise.  Anyone have any good exercise tips to stay motivated or good exercise dvds that have helped?  Thanks!

I like Turbo Jam - you can do it in the comfort of your home and it really works the abs.  Plus there is a 20 minute version (for us newbies) so that you can get a workout in in just 20 min - good luck!

    Re: trouble exercising

Wal-mart has some awesome 10 minute solutions dvd exercises.  Something to start off slow with.  You need the exercise to pump up your weight loss.  Walk or just put on some music and move it.  Do your own thing.  Atleast try to do something to get your heart rate up a bit.  I didn't like to exercise either for the longest time.  I made excuses.  But, now that I have seen results and feel so much better since I do exercises everyday.  You sleep better.  And its just so much better than just our diet alone.  So stop making excuses girl and get to it!!  You will be happy you do exercise.  Believe me.  The Turbo Jam is awesome.  It took me about a week to learn the 20 min learn and burn but after you learn it you can do it and see results.  Its all about you, find something you like and stick to it.  Big hugs...

    Re: trouble exercising

I no longer have cable at home, so I spend longer on the elliptical at the gym so I can finish watching my show =)

I really like doing bellydancing-- I don't know, it makes me feel good about the way I'm moving in addition to the way my body looks?

The Leslie Sansone tapes are awesome. I love them. They aren't expensive either. You might also try the You On A Diet workout by Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen. It is great.

    Re: trouble exercising

Sometimes I get overwhelmed thinking about exercise too.  But then I say to myself to just go do something... whether it be walking, going on my elliptical machine or doing pilates.  Once I start, I usually don't mind it so much.  And I'm setting realistic/achievable workout goals for myself so I'm not discouraged from the get-go.  I work full time and have 2 & 3 year olds boys  (not to mention my husband!) but tell myself I can find at least 1/2 an hour a night to focus on my weight loss and exercise.  If I tried to tell myself to do more, there would be too many nights I'd find an excuse of why I couldn't devote an hour, let's say, and not do anything at all.

Also, do whatever you enjoy.  It may take a few experiments to find out what that is.  I find what I like best is using my elliptical machine with my favorite music blaring AND reading a magazine- makes the time fly!  I also just bought this great new pilates DVD that uses a resistance band with these incredible beach scenes in the background... it's so calming.  (It's called Pilates Body Band Challenge).  Good luck!
