    Re: Getting discouraged gained 1lb

     Hi Tsalagi,

Quiting is not an option, you can achieve your weight loss goals!  If it was easy, everyone would be at their desired weight.  The key to attaining your goals is staying the course.  Many people diet all the time but never make progress.  When they don't see the results they want they quit. One week they have a setback and they jump ship and abandon their program.  The people that achieve their goals see that setback and forge ahead even harder that before. No one said is was going to be easy!

Keep working at it!  Use your lack of progress at this point as motivation. It can be done!

I want you to really monitor your calories closely and exercise regularly.  If you do, you should eventually start to lose weight.  Stay focused and motivated.

    Keep me posted.

    Good Luck,

    Paul

Thanks and I really do need your support, gained another pound this week :( I really love to exercise and when I am on, I am on! However, I suffer from situational depression and when I am depressed, I don't do anything. How can I over come this?  Also just found out a good friend died this week and at the gym I go to!  Also my uncle just went into hospice care so it has been a stressful week!

Treat others as you would want to be treated.

     Hi Tsalagi,

You have been hit with some challenging times and this is the time for you to get even stronger through them.  Keep in mind that getting healthy and losing weight is for YOU - and it's sopmething positive that you and you alone can control.  Get empowered by that sense of control and try to channel any negativity and energy into your workouts.

When you exercise, you are actually giving your whole system a boost that will help to combat depression.  Even when you feel you can't or don't want to exercise, that's the time when it's most critical.  Keep a journal to chart your progress, pull in a friend to keep you on track, post a motivating picture on your refrigerator, listen to motivating music that will pump you up to work up a sweat.  Most of all, remember that taking care of yourself is a precious gift and you can do it!

One other thing I recommend is to try changing up your cardio exercise from time to time.  Interval training, hills, etc. are all great ways to vary your intensity and it will help to keep your workouts interesting and challenging.

Keep me posted and know you are going to overcome!

    Good Luck.

    Paul
